I stepped away from nursing for a few years, but I’m about to start back. I need new scrubs and shoes, but I’ve gotten out of the loop, and would like to get suggestions for the best brands

I love cloves! They are non-permeable (to bodily fluids, sharps, etc) and they have laces but do not require tying. I guess it kind of depends on the type of nursing you are going into (ie: if you are in the office you won't necessarily need a sneaker type) but cloves work for me and I am mainly at the bedside and in emergency services.

My first love affair with shoes came in 1986 while working as a scrub in the OR. I was introduced to Ms. New Balance by a podiatrist with whom I regularly scrubbed. Those were the days before every Tom, Dick, and Harry had a close, intimate relationship with her.
Once Ms. New Balance became footishly promiscuous, my respect for her decreased, but I was hopelessly smitten and continued our affair, paying only for her top of the line. However, for protection, I always wore Birkenstock insoles.
I still have my last pair of Ms. New Balance that I wore when I retired in 2020. But now she waits for me in the closet, rarely seeing the light of day as I regularly truck around in my true Birkenstock shoes.

These Skechers have been everything to me since I started med-surg: https://www.skechers.com/technologies/collections/womens/work-relaxed-fit-comfort-flex-sr---hc-pro-sr/77217_BKMT.html Not for everyone, but I love alternating these with my Danskos during stretches at work, and they work well for me. Comfy, easy to move in, durable, and easy to wipe down.
I also remember having good luck with NurseMates shoes, but they stopped making the one I liked most and I haven't tried any since, so I can't vouch for any particular product of theirs right now.

I love Asics. I can't do the clog type shoes because my feet are very narrow and I kick them off. I tried Skechers but the pair I had actually gripped the floor too much and I was constantly tripping. I also love Hoka Ones, but they have a very high sole and sometimes I'd trip on those too (maybe it's just a personal problem with me tripping really). My current gel Asics are so comfortable, and on the Asics website it says: "To support you in every brave step, we offer medical professionals a discount of 40% off all full-priced products in our online store." I didn't find that out until after my most recent purchase, but I'll be using it in the future. Good luck finding your perfect fit!
