What Patients do to make you mad!

I seldom loose it over my patients. One thing however gets me every time.

When a patient, even more so if they are not old, has no teeth, and mumbles so you can not understand them even after asking them to repeat for something the fifth time, gets all mad at you for not being able to understand them.:trout:

If they are 20 and have no teeth because they did too much meth it makes me loose it even more! I had one little crackhead tell me the other day she lost all her teeth because of bad genes at age 20, funny part was that only the front ones were affected by this genetic defect !

Don't get me wrong, I will take best possible care of anyone, regardless of their bad choices in life, but some things get beyond absurd and make you want to pull your hair out!:angryfire

Bum frosters: The patients who are perfectly capable of washing up themselves but insist the nurses do it because it's expected. Patients who have nothing better to do but sit on the call bell for the no reason(because they want attention) or dumbest of dumb reasons. I had to drop vitals to answer said call bell. When I get there, patient is asleep. I turn off the light and darn it all, don't I get busted. I asked what she needed. "I forgot what I wanted, but since you're here, I need to go to the bathroom."

Patients who think their hospital stay means they've won a ticket to the Hilton and won't do anything for themselves. And the yellers... Oy...

Let me just say that this is not the place to critique someone's spelling. This is a vent thread, and while i am sure you are perfect and never do anything out of the way, if the thread or the grammar involved bothers you, maybe this is not the best place to be.

I am sure some caught the misspelling, the difference being the rest of us were too polite to point it out.

On topic:

I work in occupational health, and what steams my clams to no end are the workers who come in yelling "workman's comp!", claim they are just this side of death from their job and can not work, and then you run into them either in a billiards tourney or on the river, fishing. Of course, they can not do a job that involves that they stand, use their shoulder, wrist, ankle, etc. Also, when you see them at the medical dept. at work for their next restriction or fitness-for-duty eval. , they are wrapped up to a fare-thee-well in braces and bandages, moaning "Woe is me".

She was assaulted. If I'd experienced what she did, I'd be glad he was gone too. The only criticism I have is that the hospice didn't immediately discharge this man and press charges after the first incident.

ugh what drives me crazy is a perfectly oriented pt yells " nurse , nurse " at the top of his lungs and when i can't get up there quick enough he yells louder, i explain i was down the hall and he could of used his call light and he says " i want service" " i want it now" as he tosses his OJ on the floor.... he yells all day and gets louder and louder if you don't get there fast enough... jerk... he drove me crazy for 3 days .. i won't take him next week...

yes sweet pea it is me. it is good to hear your antics once again. so much has gone on in the past two years i just was not able to get online. first of all i had to have a triple bypass, changed jobs, lost my mom, my eldest moved out of house, 19 now can you believe it?? hope life has been treating you great girl, you are just the sweetest, that's why i just was "shocked" to see that from you, although you are known to print what you think aren't you. i knew i was takin a chance saying I'm shocked, but what the heck, i knew you would understand where i was coming from. and sweetie you are a kindred spirit/soul to all who meet you. love you sweetums. p.s. hope i didn't offend you as much as some of the others:loveya:
