Here's a quick poll;

Staff that has no interest in taking good care of residents, more interested in disappearing for long periods for multiple breaks.

Specializes in Pediatrics/Developmental Pediatrics/Research/psych.

Patient complains that they haven't had a BM in weeks. So then what was that we just cleaned this evening?

When DME vendors, dr offices or others are not understanding of a severely disabled person's difficulties. We are not being lazy or rude if we show up ten min late or request a certain time for you to visit. We just have a lot of issues and it's much more complicated for us to get there or be ready on time than a less disabled patient especially when relying on transport.

Exerting more time and energy to avoid a task then simply and proactively performing it.

Lack of ownership.

Being interrupted by call lights while surfing on AN.

Being interrupted by pesky low blood pressures while playing Candy Crush.

Being interrupted by a doctor when I'm on Facebook.

Having to interrupt a call to my BFF to pass meds.

Y'know. Work. It offends me.

Nurses move up in status (ie management) but not in their knowledge base and lack basic competence-I'm a Pat Benner fan. :yes:

I am also a Benner fan, but I admit I read that as Pat Benetar. Lol. I am clearly in need of more coffee.

I, too, spent about 15 seconds trying to figure out how that had anything to do with Pat Benatar before my reading comprehension kicked in.

Nurses who eat their young. Bullying coworkers because they are new, instead of helping them.

Specializes in Care Coordination, Care Management.

You're not serious right now.

Do you have any idea how busy a primary practice/specialist's office can be? Do you know how far behind a provider would get if you show up JUST ten minutes late??? It is YOUR responsibility to get to your SCHEDULED appointment on time. Being "severely disabled" is no excuse. And I've worked with people with severe disabilities.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.
