What nursing shoes do your recommend?

Published

i'm a new grad starting an operating room internship next week. i really want to protect my feet/legs and invest in a good pair of shoes since i'm going to be on my feet for well pretty much my whole shift.

i dont have any restrictions on what i can/cannot wear so i'm open to all suggestions. i've been looking into possible the nursing birkis - does anyone have them and if so are they as comfortable as they appear to be?

thanks!

christine, rn

ps: ignore my typo in the title! i already submitted it and can't edit it!

I envy you all for having choice of foot wear to work. Please can u help tell the US manufacturers there is a huge market for Nurses wear in Nigeria; though i will advise it should come cheap.

My crocs are so comforable I have found that I forget to take them off...and I hate wearing shoes.

I like klogs also. I have a pair of swedish ones...they are so light...Feels like you are walking on water! Forgot what they are called and they are at work...Uhhh....Sven I think. They look nice and are comfy. I also wear New Balance shoes...I got a pair of adorable white ones with light pink! A portion goes to breast cancer. I have a co-worker who goes to a special athletic store where you walk on this machine. It tells you exactly what shoes would be best for your foot. Remember everyone is different. What works for one, may not work for another. I am on my feet all day. I actually injured my achilles tendon from not wearing proper shoes at one point in my nursing career. Good luck. Try several and see what works best for you.

I love my Merrels!~:balloons:

Off subject. But how do I post a new thread? I'm new to this site and cannot find any instructions. So far I can only read and reply. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know where I can buy a pair of zcoils? I would love to try them but the closest store that I can find is about 2 1/2 hours away. I know the web site says they are supposed to be fitted but is there anywhere the can be bought online? I searched and only found lists of stores that sell them. I also checked EBAY but there were none in my size.

CROCS! Real & generic, although the ones from Payless lately have been giving me shin splints. Ugly but effective!

This so depends on your own feet. The best for me at $20 CObbie Cuddlers from K-Mart and $18 Dr Scholl's clogs from Wal*Mart. With $6 Dr Scholl's "memory foam" insoles.

I used to wear brikenstock clogs which I loved however I have allignment problems and they didn't help. I now am wearing danskos, which took a week straight to get used to and I was sore at first but now I love them and they really help my allignment issue.
