I dislike it when a patient is referred to as "pleasantly confused" in report. Either they are confused or not and usually I find that there is not anything "pleasant" about their confused state of mind

also: I dislike it when patients are called "non- compliant" - they just chose not to follow medical advice- I prefer to call them determined- determined to do as much damage to them selves as possible and they come back in and expect us to fix it!!!

( can you tell I work with alot of patients with psych or substance abuse issues?)

I also hate it when they call patients that need meal assistance "feeders" - It makes me think they need suckling!!! ew.......

I also do not like DNR---- there should be a different term- how about : AND----allow natural death, UAND----unassisted natural death.... alot of people have quilt after DNRS pass on....

I also dislike it when mentally ill people are referred to as : kooks, cuckoos, nuts, locos, whackos and dummies--they are sick

and SMEGMA---------yuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to say it but it wasn't until page 12 that I got what pus___ stood for. OY!!!!!!!!!!!! 'Bout fell outta my chair laughing - One for my stupidity and two for the term.

I don't like the terms 'secretions' or 'discharge.' They just sound icky and they usually are. :barf02:

I don't know if anybody else has used this or not, but when we have women who miscarry in our ED and are able to collect the fetal parts for patho people referred to it as "products of conception"... it just seemed too cold and very... I dunno... just not right...
