Just wondering, to all the nurses out there what do you deem your biggest weakness??? :coollook:

Then I would have to say my biggest weakness in nursing is a strong dislike of doing ADLs. Handling someone else's dentures makes me want to :barf01:, and I don't enjoy toileting, feeding, bathing etc. either. It's not that I think I'm above it or anything---far from it!---it's just a really boring part of the job. Give me an unstable post-op, a mystery to solve, or an upset family member any day.......I love a challenge. Just don't make me stand there for 45 minutes and feed someone who doesn't want to eat, or take LOLs with weak bladders and bad knees to the toilet every half hour so they can dribble 50cc in the hat. I know it's got to be done, but I just hate it.

For me, it is definitely starting IV's... very little experience in school & at work. It is very RARE occasion when the opportunity presents to start a new line.

I would have to say, that over the years, and the gradual development of cynisism(spelling prob. WRONG) when it comes to the so called "caring profession", that my biggest weakness would have to be the general lack of patience I have developed regarding the way nurses can treat each other. I'm very much an advocate for the downtrodden nurse/patient. Gets me into trouble all the time. Why can't I keep by big mouth shut. I suffer from dreadful verbal diarrhoea sometimes, but if I see a cause that needs it, I'm there. Mmmmmmm wonder if I have a self destruct button somewhere.

Oh, hands down care plans ... I am always getting "love notes" from the boss telling me to get with it and git-r-done. I'd rather wipe every hinny-pinny in the joint!!!!!:rotfl:

Well, ditto for me... except, I not only find it heartbreakingly boring.......... I so very STINK at it.... I mean, if there was a code brown on my pt (when I worked with adults) .I would make more of a mess then what was there!!!! I cant make a bed with someone in it if my life depended on it, i stink at transfers..I am an AWFUL adult med/surg ltc or whatever nurse. I work in NICU, and thats my home.... anything else, I wont allow myself to do, because I simply cannot be a good nurse if I do.....

The pure beurocrasy in nursing and medical administration gave me the most headaches because I get so flustered with it! But over the years I am getting better at biting my tongue and not saying what I REALLY want to say LOL!

I also need to really watch my facial expressions when I have a patient being unreasonable. Today I had a woman screaming to go into the ER with a mild nose bleed and she won't listen to me when I told her it was not an emergency and I was going to try to treat it but she keep insisting and "I know you are on coumadin..it is still okay!" (she kept sticking a klenex up in her nose to prove it, so no active bleeding...no wonder that drop of blood showed up...get it out of your nose!!!). Uhgggg my words are tender and caring but my face still has the faint expression of "you are being so silly and unreasonable...where did you get your medical degree?!?!?!, don't you think I may know a bit more than you???" LOL! I can't lie, my eyes give me away every time...so my voice may be soothing, but my facial expression..oh brother!!!!
