I'm starting nursing school in less then 2 months so I'm buying all the supplies I need which includes a stethoscope. http://www.medisave.net/ offers free engraving. And I thought I might as well as buy a nice one that lasts.
I don't know if I should put my full first and last name, or just put my first name and initial.
My friend who didn't make through nursing school said I should put my name and "RN" after it, as motivation. But would it be weird to put that since I'm not really an RN yet?
So I guess my main question is really if I should put "RN" at the end or if that would be weird since I am still a student.

I am also buying one from this website. I know you already bought it but, when you make it through school and become an RN this website has a spot that say's "engrave my existing stethoscope", I am sure they will add RN. Since i'm getting a nice one I am also getting them to engrave it with my first name, middle initial, and last name. I am going to put a identification tag on it too($4.00) from the Littmann store I believe. Whoever said this is the most exciting thing of beginning nursing school, it really is! :-)
Just put your name on it for now or your initials. I also just bought a stethoscope from medisave with the rainbow finish!!I had a cheap one all throughout nursing school and made the mistake of letting someone borrow it who made it such a hassle to get back ( never lend yours out by the way). I had mine engraved with my name and R.N initials. Hopefully this prevents anyone from walking away with my stethoscope again.
I got my stethoscope from medisave also, I got my first and last name with hearts before and after my name. I say no to that because I am not a RN yet and I would never use that title while in nursing school. A nurse at the hospital or instructor may take offense to that as if you think you are at their level already, when clearly you don't have your nursing license. I am going to get RN engraved on mine when I get my nursing license.
I will tell you that if I see a student with "RN" on their steth, I will report said student to their CI for using a title that they do not have any legal right to use...not yet anyway. You may think that initials on a steth is nothing to get worked up over...but the fact is that the titles of "nurse" and "RN" are legally protected in almost all states.
I'm a grumpy spoil-sport, I know...but you can use "RN" when you have earned it and not a minute before.
As a student, I'd go with initials or last name.

This is always exciting! I put my first name and last name initial with some characters (cross, peace sign). Good luck! Watch YouTube videos on how to prepare because you will need to stay super organized!
