  1. Get organized first off all. I was a struggling student also and let me tell you how I figured it out. Now I know time is an issue for you but here's my suggestion. Read and understand the patho behind it before you even go into lecture. Use all your senses. Hear it. Read it. Write it. Draw pictures to help you remember. As I read I make up little things to help me remember things like definitions. Go over your lectures before class and after class. Review them everyday. If you read over your notes everyday you'll be surprised at what that can do. Always ask yourself WHY. A why to every symptom and point. If you can do that, you can walk yourself through any question. You will probably not sleep very much during this time but it won't be like this forever! If you're not a caffeine drinker take caffeine pills (I'm not a coffee or pop drinker). Sleep is important but you have to make some sacrifices. Hope this helped. You CAN do this :)
  2. This is always exciting! I put my first name and last name initial with some characters (cross, peace sign). Good luck! Watch YouTube videos on how to prepare because you will need to stay super organized!
  3. I would say C. You can't do any modification unless you access.
  4. Ok it's me again. I decided on: Constipation Activity intolerance Risk for falls Anxiety Anyone agree?
  5. Could someone help me put these in priority according to Maslows. I'm having trouble deciding. Risk for falls Constipation Anxiety Activity intolerance Thank you.
  6. You're not alone! I'm a struggling RN student. I'm less than 1 point from passing theory and I'm going crazy thinking about it. Never studied in my life! I just went over my power points the morning before class and always managed to make A's and B's. I'm trying to figure this whole thing out because it's new to me, and I'm not giving up. I feel like everyone is smarter than me and feel like a total idiot. I'm lucky that nursing is such a united community because I've received tons of support that has kept me going! We gotta hang in there.
  7. Thank you so much for the input! I will try the study method and also figure out what I need to be focusing on. I hope I can pull through
  8. Each test I try different study methods because obviously the previous ones aren't working. This last time I studied by listening to my lectures and writing my own notes from the lecture and book. I also did a few templates for meds and procedures. I missed the easiest questions. Seemed like I had trouble with goals and interventions. I got all my drug and actual critical thinking skill questions correct. I read my chapters and do a review after. I do as many NCLEX questions as I can find relating the topic. I've met with my professor when I failed my first test. I'm meeting with her again next week because I want her input. Anything you can see that I'm missing or that maybe I should try? I think I'm a visual learner because I can usually remember something if I remember it written down. Definitely not an auditory learner! I've always felt confident in school until now. And I hate to whine but I'm frustrated at this point.
  9. Hello! I'm a first semester student in the ADN program. I'm making Bs and Cs on my exams, mostly high Cs. I feel like I study all the material and even though I feel like all I do is study I have a gut feeling that the reason I'm not doing as well is because I'm not investing enough time. I need to figure this out before I flunk out! I'm less than a point from passing theory. I'm doing great with my clinical grade thank goodness, but if I can't pass theory I'm out. I want this so bad! Please help me figure this out! I have two more exams and a final. Any experiences with this? I need a miracle! I don't want to get discouraged I'm married and have a toddler. I feel guilty leaving my daughter and I don't want to feel this way because I know it's holding me back. Anyone been in my same spot where your almost there and you managed to pull through? I need to get a schedule going with plenty of studying incorporated but first I need to know on an average basis how much I need to study. I've never had to study, and made A's and B's In my prerequisites. I don't know how much time I need to spend studying. Help! Thanks in advance!
  10. I'm a a first year student, first care plan ever! She's presented with a left abdominal abscess. She's 87 yrs old, and underweight. Arthritis in hands. No other previous/current illness. Pt is healthy overall. Ambulates without assist. Is able to perform ADL's on her own. When asked about church or friends she said she didn't have any friends or attend church. She lost her husband years ago and stated she coped well. She has a "ranch" with chickens, ducks, goats, cows, and one horse. She spends all her time taking care of them and says she doesn't have time for anything else. Her 3 daughters live in California. One daughter doesn't even acknowledge her. Her only son is the one who's always been there when she needs something. She stated she eats 1-2 meals a day and forgets to eat because she's so busy. She enjoys eating fruits and veggies. Rarely eats beef or pork. BM are daily.
  11. It's the cause. I'm just having trouble with the whole thing about "can you fix the cause" Im stumped on this one.
  12. Ok I need help with an etiology to my DX. My patient is widowed and doesn't really interact with anyone except with her son on the weekend occasionally. I think impaired social interaction is a good DX. She has a "ranch" and takes care of all her animals alone. Doesn't go to church or have friends. Any thoughts on an etiology? Thanks in advance!
  13. I'm having the hardest time learning how to study for nursing exams!!! I love nursing but I feel like I'm not cut of for these exams. I've always had a 4.0 in school and this is killing me. Anyone been there and pulled through? Any advise?
  14. Don't worry! I failed my first exam also! You just have to adjust! It gets better, trust me :) try different ways to study until one sticks. Good luck!
