Super common among anti-vaxxers. There's a belief that the immunity your body gets from having the illness is "superior" to the immunity it would get from a vaccine so these "parties" are rampant. I agree, it definitely is not good.

That is seriously borderline abuse if you ask me. People do not get that Varicella can be FATAL. Idiot!! My mom caught it from me (1976) and was in the ICU for a week on a ventilator.

Yeah, I've heard of "chicken pox parties" to intentionally expose kids to other sick kids. They've obviously not found out that chicken pox is not a one-time thing. It can recur both in the form of chicken pox or as shingles if you ever had been exposed to it.

UGH. I actually just talked to my 8th graders in health class this week about Shingles. They were blown away. Why would you expose someone to this when you don't have to?

This is our governor. He is an absolute idiot.

He's also the one who during a teacher "sick-out" last year told news reporters that there were likely many students who were sexually abused that day at home because of the selfish teachers (who were protesting not for a raise, but for their promised pensions that he was trying to take away).

Wow... and these people are in power. I have always been pro vaccines and the research is there to back up the effectiveness of them. I understand that it is every parents right to do as they wish with their children, but if you choose to not vaccinate then you are putting other at risk and that is what I do not agree with. Here's another person in public office with no idea of what he is talking about:
