What the heck was I thinking????

ACK!

The term doesn't start until Monday and I am already having an anxiety attack. I got the course schedules for my 2 online classes today--I am totally overwhelmed--and I have 2 other classes in addition to those! WHY did I take 14 credit hours? I must be insane.

On the upside...if I can handle this semester I will feel better equipped to tackle nursing school. This semester is going to be all about time management. Wish me luck!

PS--good luck to all those in the same boat!

14 credit hours is cake really. It's when you get up to 22 or 23 credit hours that I would be freakin out. That's what I was taking (22 - 23) most of my education. I made it fine :) Graduated with honors actually.

Well, I feel for Lanie!. Stress is all relative......what stresses you out obviously is not what stresses another person out. Good for you that you were able to acheive so much, but even 14 credit hours IS impressive, especially if you have been away from school for a while or work full time or have a family...

Lanie........you are right. The better you can manage your time in your classes, the better you are likely to do in nursing school! Good Luck to you! Online classes do have advantages... You'll do great, I am sure!!!:icon_hug:

Are you working too? 14 credits is really easy unless you are taking like Organic chemistry, Physics, engenearing, Biologys and those types of classes all at once. Which classes are you taking?

I was panicing about this semester too (chem and A&P1 together oh my!), but I found that once i startted the semester it wasn't to bad.

Give it a chance. Push comes to shove you may have to drop a class and maybe take a lighter next semester.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I should have clarified...I am going back to school after 15 years, I have 2 kids and a husband, and I work full time. I am just having a little bit of a freak out...second guessing myself, I suppose.

I suggest you plan out your schedule - put all your important dates into a calendar and figure out when you will have time to do everything. Online classes are so helpful though, because at least you don't have to deal with commuting to them. Just don't fall behind. If you think you can't handle all of them, be sure to drop before the drop deadline so you can get a refund.

I feel for you. School for me starts on Sept. 15, it's full-time (18 credit hours), and I am trying hard not to panic too.

14 hours IS a lot when you have a family and are working, esp with classes with labs. You may be taking 4 classes but with labs it's like 6 because you have (usually) diff teachers and it's own homework. Hang in there! I always get mucho stressed the first week of online classes..it helps to make a spreadsheet to write up what all is due and how they are graded (ie..quizzes, exams, assignments) Also utilize the calendar for your class... I feel much better once I realize exactly what will be do and when!

Specializes in Urgent Care.

Once you get a good schedule down, I'm sure you'll manage fine. Heck, if you can manage kids, a hubby, job, motherhood etc, you are already good at multi-tasking :)

I've got A&P I with lab, and my first nursing course. For some reason, though I've got an M.S. the school's humanities requirements forced me to take English II which is a complete waste of time.

So I've got 15 credits. I'm with you all the way!

IF it is too late to drop a class then try your best. You will be extra busy though but it is doable. Good luck. :)
