  1. Finally, the test is here and gone! I was so stressed about it last night and this morning that I barely slept. I think I must have the easiest chem professor in the world because the test was a breeze. It was 20 multiple choice questions--5 being conversions. The rest were straight from lecture. I know this is only a Survey class but I wasn't expecting it to be what it was. YAY!! So happy right now!!! Lanie
  2. Ugh...I am so with you on this. My kids are 5 and 9. The 9yo is great...very supportive. My 5 yo is constantly begging me to stop going to school and stay home to play with her. She cried to my dh just last night that she wishes I would just go back to work (I work while she's in school so I guess she thinks I haven't been working...) and not go to school anymore. The GUILT! I have to just continue to think that all of our lives are going to be so much better once I am happily working as a nurse instead of what I'm doing now. Chin up...soon it will all be over! Lanie
  3. Welcome to the Black Hills! I can't speak to nursing jobs because I'm still doing my prereqs but there are 2 schools here...University of South Dakota (ADN) and South Dakota State University (BSN). You can finish your prereqs at the School of MInes (I think...I go to Black Hills State in Spearfish). It's really beautiful here. We just moved (been 2 years now...) from Denver and would never go back!! My kids love it here too...Welcome!
  4. I've been studying for the most part...trying to find the balance is a challenge. I've already had 2 quizes in Humanities and 2 essays due...I got A's on all of it!! YAY!!! I've had a couple of English assignments and my chem class is heating up for a test in 2 weeks...I'm loving it so far though!!
  5. I had my first Chemistry class yesterday and I am so relieved!! My professor is really relaxed and put us all at ease. The material isn't going to be easy but I have a feeling it's going to be presented in a way that will make it understandable. I feel so lucky!! Lanie
  6. Student loans, Baby! And a pell grant. I'm going to be in debt for awhile but it's so worth it!
  7. Oh NO!!! I hope you feel better by Tuesday! Funny (not really) what our bodies do in times of stress...and it just stresses us out more!!! Drink lots of oj and get plenty of sleep!! Feel better! Lanie
  8. I'm a little nervous...mostly 'fear of the unknown' type nervous. I was/am stressed about fitting it all in but I'm sure now that it's all about timing and scheduling. It'll all work out. Good luck to everyone!!!!! Be sure to check in after classes tomorrow! Lanie
  9. Thanks for all of the replies. I should have clarified...I am going back to school after 15 years, I have 2 kids and a husband, and I work full time. I am just having a little bit of a freak out...second guessing myself, I suppose.
  10. ACK! The term doesn't start until Monday and I am already having an anxiety attack. I got the course schedules for my 2 online classes today--I am totally overwhelmed--and I have 2 other classes in addition to those! WHY did I take 14 credit hours? I must be insane. On the upside...if I can handle this semester I will feel better equipped to tackle nursing school. This semester is going to be all about time management. Wish me luck! Lanie PS--good luck to all those in the same boat!
  11. Whew! That's what I was hoping to hear. I can do the basics-I actually remembered a lot more than I thought I would. Thanks!! Lanie
  12. HELP! LOL At our school college algebra is required before chemistry (for obvious reasons). I took Algebra in my 'former' college career 15 years ago and did pretty well (B). So, I don't HAVE to take algebra since I already have the credit but I'm sure I forgot as much as I knew back then. Do you think I will be able to use the formulas with little trouble? I got Algebra for dummies and even though it is really basic, I am remembering the concepts. I can't decide how stressed I should be over this. I will definitely be getting a tutor.... Any insights? Lanie
  13. 35 w/ 2 kids--ds 9 dd 5...I'll be just shy of 39 when I graduate.
  14. I'm taking Chem 106...I think it will be ok but I haven't had algebra in 15 years or so. I got 'Algebra for Dummies' and I am brushing up...hopefully that will be enough! Lanie
  15. Are they harder?? In my infinite wisdom (or a crazy act of a desperate woman... :chuckle ) I have registered for 2 classes online--English 101 and Intro to Humanities. I am hoping this wasn't a mistake!! I'm starting to freak out just a little bit about this whole school thing-it's getting really real now!
