What was your HARDEST class?

I've been hearing alot about A&P, Micro, and Pharmacology. So, what would you say was your toughest course, and did any of you get a tutor?

By the way I loved Anatomy and physiology...pharmacology on the other had is a pain in the behind times 3!

I think it depends on the teacher, I didn't like nutrition. But Micro is up on high on the list also, but had a very good teacher.

micro was a blast. i loved learning about viruses. anatomy was fun also,

looking at the cadavars was fascinating. Physiology was hard and Pharm was just sheer memorization. (flash cards essential) once i learned the basics though, it got better. a tutor would have helped for my physio. i'd say just let yourself be fascinated by what you learn.

Another consideration is what your strengths and weaknesses are. For example, some are good at memorization. Those folks should do well in A&P. Nursing courses consist of more critical thinking skills. That uses a different skill set than rote memorization. Psychological research shows us that younger students have (on average) good memorization ability but haven't developed their critical thinking skills very well yet. Older students have to work harder to memorize, but their critical thinking skills are much stronger. Note, I said on average. This research does not predict any individuals strengths or weaknesses. Now add to the mix interest level, and effort and it gets a bit more complex. I have a hard time memorizing, but do quite well with the critical thinking applications. So A&P requires alot of effort for me, but it's not exactly hard material. It's just memorization. Anyway, my point is that knowing your individual strengths v. weaknesses and interest level helps YOU predict and understand how classes will be for you.

A&P would be very easy if it's one thing you enjoy learning. good thing i enjoy it very much. i didnt like microbio that much but i still showed interest and got a nice grade. same with nutrition. pharma is more on memorization. i was able to enjoy learning it the easy and fun way through the teacher. if youre interested very much, chances are you'll love studying on that particular subject and it will be very easy for you to learn.

My microbiology teacher expected a lot out of us, but I think that class will be one of my most memorable. I enjoyed his style of teaching...he was very charismatic, but strict also. He had us develop one of our own projects in lab, using microbiology in real world applications. Everyone in our group liked to cook, so we did an experiment to see how well garlic, lemon juice, or salt inhibited bacterial grown on raw chicken. It was fun! We ended up having to do a scientific poster for our experiment and presented our findings to the rest of the class and members of the biology department staff. It was probably my hardest class, but I actually loved every minute of it!

Probably Micro. Actually took it three times before I passed it. :) The first time I actually dropped out. The second time I flunked... not because I couldn't have passed the class but well.. it's a long story. And passed it the third time.

If I would have had to take chemistry, then THAT probably would have been my answer. Took Chemistry 1 and 2 in high school and THAT was hard enough!!!

Pathophysiology.

A&P 1 and 2 were defintely the hardest for me. Even though I was very interested in the subject, my lecture professor was so dry and straight from the book that it was hard not to let my eyes glaze over. Labs were difficult too just because of the sheer volume of info to cram into such a short time. Thank goodness for the science lab because some of the models and info could only find in there and not in the actuall classroom lab.

Micro and chem were a breeze in comparison because the teachers were both outstanding and the labs more hands-on and enjoyable.

Hello! My hardest prerequisite nursing class was Human Growth and Development. I took it via telecourse, and it was so boring. It was my first B.:scrying: I have heard that it was wonderful in the classroom. I took Micro in the summer before I entered nursing school, and I made an easy A, but it was so time consuming. I LOVED A&P I and II!!! I have a photographic memory, and it was so fascinating to me. My instructor gave us opportunities for extra credit on all tests and in clinical labs. I came out of both classes with over a 100 average. But, when I entered nursing school, it was a rude awakening. No extra credit there!!! Good Luck with all your classes!! Have a great day!:p

my pharm. class really sucked. i would do all of the scheduled readings but when it came time to test his answers contradicted the book. when i talked to other students they said they never opened the book, they just studied from the teacher's power point notes, and they were getting good test scores. so finally i just looked at the notes and got a good grade. i was so happy that i went up to him and said "finally i did well, i mainly went over the notes". he said "don't tell me that you didn't open the book". i was shocked that i was scolded for doing what it took to get a good grade. i was so glad when that class was over!!
