What was your HARDEST class?

Nurses General Nursing

I've been hearing alot about A&P, Micro, and Pharmacology. So, what would you say was your toughest course, and did any of you get a tutor?

A&P was the hardest for me and I had been an LPN for 14 years before I took it. It was like learning a foreign language. 2 brothers taught the course and they were tough. I got through it but I was sure relieved to have that course behind me.

I think it depends on the teacher, I didn't like nutrition. But Micro is up on high on the list also, but had a very good teacher.

It definently depends on the teacher. I found that Micro was the easiest of the science classes for me, great teacher. A&P was also great, another great teacher. Chemistry, that was the worst for me. We had to take general chemistry and organic & biochemistry. I took general chemistry over a summer session (5 weeks long) along with Intermediate Algebra. I do not recommend that!!!! The organic & biochemistry was definently tough too! I hated Chemistry!!!!!

Micro was definitely killer but I got through it with an A (and even failed my first exam!). I thought micro was very interesting and since it's such a hard course, you'll find that most (if not all) of your classmates are very helpful and supportive.

Biochemistry! The absolute worst of all times! So boring and I just didn't see the connection between the material and the Nursing Profession. Took my "B" and ran like hell!

Although A&P is more interesting than Micro, I find micro to be alot easier for me. I am taking it this Summer, so far, I am maintaining a A- without killing myself. A&P, I was studying for hours everyday and was able to do for both classes. Micro is not as challenging. If I had put more effort, I would have got 100+ on every exam, instead of 91 and 93. Offcourse, that is my opinion.

My favorite was organic chemistry...got to do all kinds of fun, practical stuff. Like.....in lab, we made the absorbent material found in diapers, only we didn't know it at the time. Whoever guessed correctly what it was used for got extra credit on the lab quiz...

Hardest? Without a doubt...philosophy. I have a brain for science and facts, not the "what ifs." Know what I mean? I did make a B in the class, and I tried to keep an open mind going into it. But I hated every minute of that class.

I would have to say pathophysiology. It is hard to explain what happens pathophysiologically to an organ system in 10 words or less. That is how our test were.

Specializes in 0 - hopefully peds someday.

Pharmocology is not a separate class here. Also, A&P have to be taken separately and they were by far my hardest subjects! Not that I was friends with Chemistry either but A&P is still coming back to bite me. If you like maps and geography Anatomy probably won't be too hard for you... Good Luck!

On the undergraduate level it was Statistics......On the graduate level so far, it has to be the Research class (which involved Statistics). It was like learning a whole different language and I am very grateful that I survived that class.

As far as pre-req's I would say that stats was the worst one for me but that is because I hate math with a passion and it didn't help that I took it online. Secondly I would say nutrition the teacher was psycho..:chuckle IMO..but A&P 1 & 2 were time consuming for me because I took them both as a 8 wk weekend course. But I really enjoyed them both even though we sometimes had two test a week but that is because the classes were so condensed. I had to take classes around my husbands schedule so I had to take some classes that way if not I definately would not have killed myself that way.
