Im not a nurse, but im considering it.(18 years old)
I know that in nursing school you only have time for studying because of the intense work load. But how does that change once you have a job?
I personally have a passion for drawing, and after not drawing for about 2 years, im slowly getting back into it and realizing how much I love it. A small percentage of me would want to go to art school, but it doesn't seem to offer much stability. I definitely want to have enough time to draw, perhaps do freelance work, take art classes, etc and basically still enjoy life. I wouldn't want my life to revolve around nursing, and i'd be broken hearted if I couldnt do art as much as I'd like to.
So...what do you guys like to do outside of work? How do you manage a work/personal life balance?
Any thoughts on traveling to Cancun? It would just be me and my sister. I didn't realize how dangerous Mexico was until one of my friends told me. Also considering Harry Potter Land as an option.
If you stay in the resorts you should be fine. Also the border cities are what are uber creepy & dangerous, inner Mexico isn't as bad.
Is it hot/humid? What's the food like? My husband and I typically plan our vacations around the kind of food there. Inland Nicaragua was a bit disappointing.
Well if you go around this time of year then it is hotter than a jalepeno's privates, but the wind from the ocean helps alot. The food is pretty good! We ate at local seafood resturant and the fish was so fresh and delish! They also have a chiptole so THAT'S a plus. They also have other resturant chains (BK, McDonalds, Waffle House, etc)
My main hobby during the spring, summer and fall months is bicycling. I've ridden a total of 936 miles so far this season.
I bet your legs look AMAZING! I bet you're a freaking stallion! I run and do alot of body-weight exercises and core strengthening workouts. I love doing bicycle work outs too, but I've never considered biking long distance.

I have been to Cozumel many times. I don't care for Cancun.
Take that with a grain of salt however, I travel there for the scuba diving and Cancun is not a dive destination.
I'm sorry but just because you're in nursing school does not mean that you will never have free time. I had a bunch of free time in nursing school (yes the work load was heavy and intense at times) but it wasn't like I became a hermit. Some students say stuff like that to scare you (IMHO). Anyways I worked all throughout nursing school as a nursing assistant and still had time to get dinner or hangout with friends during the week. Sometimes I would meet up with other college friends and we would study together and get dinner and drive around. Now that I am a nurse I have a lot of free time. I work three 12 hour shifts and have 4 days off a week. You can definitely still enjoy life as a nurse. Don't let anyone discourage you. Good luck!
I am a gamer. NS did not leave much time for social life, and when it did, I really just wanted to be home alone, chillin'. So PS3/XBOX and Netflix binge watching became my escape and "me time." Now that I am working, things haven't changed much. I have A LOT more down time, which I really need (both physically and mentally), so getting a PS4 has been the best thing EVER. Wine helps too. Cheers!

I don't like Cancun. I have been there 2x and have been to Cozumel 2x. I tolerate snorkel, don't like SNUBA and will not even consider SCUBA.
I went down once and I panicked. I didn't let go of my guide's hands the whole time.

Cheers back.
I tend to loaf as well, but I have to say this hiking thing has me a bit pumped.

My husband and I have been twice; it feels like a sub-tropical Vegas. (Well, sub nightlife for gambling.) The resorts are glorious. The beaches are nice for walking, but not for swimming -- the waves are really strong. In fact, last time we went I hardly saw the red "no swimming" flags come down. However we've taken buses and other local transpo south, where it's much more relaxing and Mexican. Puerto Morelos has stunning beaches, crystal clear because of the coral reef that breaks the waves and is amazing for snorkeling. The local "Mami y Papi" places to eat are little pieces of heaven...the well-known places inside Cancun are okay and overpriced.
