What do you guys do to de-stress?

Nurses Stress 101

Published

As nurses we are all exposed to some form of stress, the good and bad. I am curious to find out what you guys do to let off some steam and release some stress. Keep it clean!

For me I started doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It's a good workout and very therapeutic for me. There isn't any other training environment, where I can literally submit or choke a person unconscious. Well, they tap out before they pass out of course😁

Exercise! When I am stressed and don't feel like working out I force myself to because I know that is when I need it most. I also like to listen to music or walk my dog. Watch a movie, eat some ice cream or pour a glass of wine and think about all the things I have going for me. I agree with Farawyn baking helps too. And my personal favorite.... calling my Mom :)

It has been a dream of both myself and my boyfriend to live on a lake. Just wondering where your beautiful lakes and rivers are located?

I am a group exercise instructor. I teach Les Mills Bodypump (low weight high repetition workout) and CXWORX (30 min core workout) at local YMCA clubs.

Specializes in Critical Care.

Read, hike, participate in social media, binge-watch shows with my husband, drink wine or craft beers, cook while listening to good music.

Oh, yeah, and vent to a small, carefully chosen group of nurses I went to school with. HIPAA compliant-ly, of course.

Usually basketball which I am a member of 3 leagues or occasionally going out with some of the peeps from work...that keeps me balanced

I head to the golf course after a stressful day and play some really really bad golf. If it's to cold or raining then a blank canvas and some paint can make me feel more relaxed.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, Transport, L&D, Hospice.

I kill things...fish, moose, mosquitos

Still in school, but for me it's tacos and beer with friends. Although ever since my instructor told us that nursing students tend to gain 30-40 lbs during school, I've been reconsidering this method.

My all time favorite de-stressor is a trip to my local Barnes and Noble. I walk though the doors and it's my heaven. And it works every single time.

Specializes in ER, progressive care.
