As nurses we are all exposed to some form of stress, the good and bad. I am curious to find out what you guys do to let off some steam and release some stress. Keep it clean!
For me I started doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It's a good workout and very therapeutic for me. There isn't any other training environment, where I can literally submit or choke a person unconscious. Well, they tap out before they pass out of courseðŸ˜

I force myself to make plans on my days off. The introvert in me could easily stay inside and watch movies all day/errrrrrday. This summer I promised myself that if the weather was nice I was going to the water. I live within 30 minutes of some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the world (in my opinion). It is a low cost and low stress way for me to unwind and feel like I'm in a different world and thousands of miles away from the hospital. Now if its a rainy day that is another story....
I can honestly say this has been one of the best and most fulfilling/relaxing summers that I have had in my adult life.

That's great. I feel the same way. I don't think I could ever be landlocked.
Exercise! When I am stressed and don't feel like working out I force myself to because I know that is when I need it most. I also like to listen to music or walk my dog. Watch a movie, eat some ice cream or pour a glass of wine and think about all the things I have going for me. I agree with Farawyn baking helps too. And my personal favorite.... calling my Mom :)

Get a pedicure, shop for kids' clothes at Carter's or Gymboree (I have 3 children and I'm obsessed with cute kids' clothes,) take a hot bubble bath, browse the cosmetics and fragrances at Sephora, get a mocha latte, read a beauty magazine, take a nap, make a pot of hazelnut coffee and consume it slowly, have lunch with friends at a good, authentic Italian restaraunt, make homemade chocolate chip cookies with my kids, relax poolside in the summer months, yearly vacations at the beach in northeastern Florida...
