Where I live, the drug of choice is almost exclusively heroin. I am well versed in the treatment of heroin overdoses and the resources for those who use, as we have several per day on average. I've never dealt with a patient on bath salts, meth, crack, etc. , at least to my knowledge. I'm getting ready to relocate to a different region and i'm realizing I may have to educate myself on other presentations for other substances!

Crystal Meth

Alcohol

Sydney, Australia

The last United Nations World Drug Report confirmed that Australia leads the world in ecstasy and cannabis use, was third for methamphetamines and fourth for cocaine.

Meth, alcohol, and MJ. 99% test positive for MJ and I've seen several accidental peds overdoses in the past few years thanks to edibles. We had a lot of spice coming through last year, but I haven't seen many recently. Heroin is on the upswing but I still see way more meth. I'm in So Cal.

Spice actually can cause seizures. We've had a couple that ended up intubated.

Oh I know, I didn't meant they weren't real seizures. It's just that the calls for the ambulance is always "25 y.o. male having seizures." Like they have a seizure disorder...they don't mention the "drug overdose".

Heroin, meth, ETOH

War on drugs...meh...definitely should spend more resources on who can use what bathroom...

North Dakota has seen a lot of overdoses from heroin laced with Fentanyl. One man in Grand Forks died from an overdose of Fentanyl by itself. We've had many overdoses with the mixed heroin in all age groups in Fargo, and in the past month or so I have heard of at least 6 deaths. Ultimately though, it's alcohol abuse that is most rampant. But the opiate crisis in Fargo is what is dominating the news.

I believe what many are calling heroin is actually fentanyl. Orders of magnitude more potent which is why unintentional overdose is such a big risk with it.

Lots and lots of meth, opiates, then ETOH. Marijuana isn't even considered a drug anymore around here.

Did I say meth? So tired of meth!

Heroin, spice, and "wet"

Specializes in kids.
Spice is "synthetic" marijuana. What's in it? Not sure, causes symptoms much more pcp like than pot.

Pretty much rat poison

Here in Virginia we're seeing a lot of heroin laced with fentanyl, and it is killing a bunch of people.

My husband is law enforcement, the newest drug they are dealing with is "gravel" - meth sprinkled on bath salts! :nailbiting:

Darwin had some ideas about these folks...
