What do you do on the drive to work?

Published

So I drive 200 miles to work one way. For me that's 3.5 hours that I feel I should be productive with.

My solution: learning Spanish with CD's that I put in my car.

However there's only so much Spanish I can try and learn at one point before I need a break. :p

Anyone have any suggestions?

For those that drive a distance, what do you do during your drive?

Out of curiosity, does the hotel give you a discount? We are in an area where working elsewhere might be worth my time, but I wasn't sure how the hotel thing works.

The hospital I work for pays for the hotel so I never see a bill. :D

I listen to books, I now enjoy long drives alone so I can listen to books

I only have a 10 minute drive. I listen to the same, impossibly perky it's-too-early-to-be-this-happy songs (including one in German, to which I know all the words but haven't a clue what they mean) every day, and get out of my car ridiculously happy.

then I walk into the hospital.

I listen to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Z100 NY :) Love it!

Seeing since I am originally from Ohio, I *LOVE* Elvis Duran. Too bad they don't come in on any of the stations here in Texas.

I am lucky and only have to drive 8 minutes to work. I just drive. And drink my coffee. Sometimes I wish I had a little longer drive because I feel like driving clears my mind, but I know when I get out of work I will be regretting that longer drive lol

I leave the house at 0500. I'm just trying to avoid deer the entire drive. Oh and...runners in the road, bicyclists with no lights, people on scooters, other humans with a death wish.......

Drive less than 30 minutes now. Listen to classic doo-wop CDs. Great stuff!

When I had longer commutes as a case manager, I loved the variety / sound quality of Sirius radio.

My drive varies between 20 to 40 mns depending on traffic. I have tried all of the above suggestions, I probably was the person eating cereal on my way home, - you know the oatmeal from McD's. I have made a car music playlist on my ipod, but it gets boring after awhile. I listen to podcasts, and also books recordings. But, at times nothing keeps my interest at all. I drive bored out of my mind. At one time my radio was broken, and I was going through a divorce. I needed the time to think, and didn't get the radio fixed. I had no music nothing at all for about 3 years. I really needed that time.

I love to sing, and at times, even though it's kind of late on my way to work, or early on my way home, will call and chat with friends and family.

I am working on podcasts with my son, and sometimes I record my ideas on my phone will driving. I am thinking of recording an ebook during my drive. Sometimes I record chore lists for my kids. Sometimes I just talk out my feelings or pray.
