I attend a private school in VA, I pay 19,800 YIKES!!!!!!!!!!! But like most people have said as long as you pass the entrance exam you are pretty much in. This includes uniforms, books, and whatever other fees. I still have to pay for the NCLEX exam also $330 on top of everything else. It's a good schoo though.
I went to LPN school in the 80s and it was a state run program and was FREE, save the books and uniforms.
My daughter went to the same program 10 yrs later and it was around 2 grand? I was puzzled, cuz with the shortage of nurses, WHY is the state charging to GET new nurses. the program was hard enough w/o having to PAY.
I am glad I did it WHEN I did, but feel badly for others NOW, cuz these (used to be free) programs are costly now? I see no reason why, and it sure does cut into getting and keeping new and good nurses. IMo

hello all..just got my acceptance letter today from the school i will be attending here in jacksonville, fl (fccj) along with the financial/cost info.
in-state tuition for me will run $2892.50 - this is for an 11 mos. program - 3 semesters.
there are other costs to factor in as well such as state licensure exam processing fee, books, uniforms, steth - etc...which adds up to quite a bit..so i would say grand total is a little over 4100.00 with the odds and ends figured in also.

My LVN program costs $18,900- Its a Vocational School and we finish in 14 mos... Man am I paying to much or what!
My Faince and I both are going to private school and this school is going to charge use each a total of $ 26,300 and from this amount we both have to take out a student loan's in the amount of $ 14,000 each and, let's pray that out of the entire amount of $ 26,300 the the Federal Pell Grant pick up the remainding balance of $ 12,300 each cause if not be are going to have to pay it out of pocket and believe me it aint going to be easy at all with 2 boy to fed and cloth and pay rent, car Insurance, light, cable, phone and Internet at the same time.....so for those who got it easy please enjoy it and dont bicker... just pray for use!!!

Wow, after reading some of these tuition costs, I feel a little ripped off! :angryfire I went to Concorde in So. Cal, started in Oct 2003, graduated in April 2005 (weekend clinicals and 1 day of theory a week) and it cost me....get ready.....22K! Luckily I got a majority of the tuition picked up in grants and stafford loans. Had to pay the rest out of pocket! But tuition included everything...books, uniforms, stethescope, scissors, etc. Even the fee for taking the NCLEX (only one time though)! But looking back on it, some of the clinical sites were some of the best learning experiences of my life. I'm taking my NCLEX on Aug 2nd, so hopefully all that learning for the past 22 months comes in handy! :rotfl:

Four months for LPN? That must have been really really intense.
