Why does it cost so much? A friend of mine wanted to go to LPN school here and he said it would cost $11000! I can't believe it! So now he is going to wait and try to get into RN program-The next available semester is Fall 2007. It is $500 a semester +books.

Depending on if the program is through a hospital, tech school, or college, will depend on the cost, which is why some are significantly cheaper than others.
Price to me is a factor in what is affordable, BUT never discredit a school because the tuition is "cheap". Mine was under 5,000, but had accredidation and a stellar reputation for the education and clinical.

how do u find out about the reputation, or accreditation, I mean i saw an add in the newspaper said accepting applications for LPN program, and applied (didnt look into all the other stuff) I mean how will i know if I learned what I needed to lol, that thought just came to me lol
I'm having a mental block on where you go to check, but when it clears, i'll post it here, unless someone else beats me to it.

Mine (LPN) is about $6500 for everything but it's hard to get into and hard to stay in. Other one I know of with a pretty open door policy -- will take anyone -- costs $19,000.

I'm going to be starting a P/T program in January, but mine will cost $9,200 for tuition alone. That doesn't include the $300 for books, the $150 for uniforms, or any of the other fees. Just the tuition:(

Hi all, I just graduated from a LPN program last night. My school was 3100 plus books and uniforms and a few other little fees. It wasn't bad. There is a school here that is private and they charge 20,000. It is much easier to get into though. When I got accepted it was only 45 accepted out of 500. Good luck to you all. Nancy
