We use the intellidot at the hospital I work at they first brought it in while I was a student so I didnt get the chance really not to use it but I know that this system has kept me from making med errors Thats the upside. The downside is it is all by computer so one wrong button and the whole thing goes wrong. For instance the "caret" first we scan the patients id bracelet then we scan the med if that med is not ordered for that patient it says no order found well if the order is brand new it wont be on there if it is an emergency med it wont be on there anyway if it is on the caret then u give it if it isnt and u know the order is correct then u give it anyway and u can override any med as new medication order. there is a sheet stapled to every room with reasons and such as to why u are giving a certain med either late or early or a new med with no order found they have this little "dot" that u can scan to "omit" or delete the entry if u are not careful u accidentaly scan "omit all" well every med u ahve scanned for the night is now omitted I have done this ONCE and had to go into the computer manually and put in each med that I gave. for those of us computer junkies out there its not that big a deal just a little time consuming for those with no computer skills it is a mess. oh ya and one more drawback lol it tells when ya even a minute late ya know after the 30 or hour u have to give a med. depending on what hospital u are at if we are 31 minutes early it wants to know why and if we are 61 minutes late it wants to know why. there is a little "dot" to scan that says unable to accomadate lead lag time that is my favorite button OF course when u live in OK and there are no rules apparently as to patient staff ratio and we are taking 8-11 patients on the over night shift there are a lot of times that u are unable to accomodate!!!!! OK heres the story,,, my brother in law died last week and i had to take 3 days of clinicals off one of which was the only er day i was getttin,,, anyway i got a lovely 0 for the weeks clinical now i have to do the objective never having been there or take a 0 for that too and i think that will make me close to failing even tho i have an A in clinicals. Anyway what i need is an er nurse to email me and pleaseeeeeeee help with this information; just an example of the questions i have locate the trays used in er and understand the use of each and what they contain example thoracotomy tray now u see my delimma lol having never been there i have no clue. pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee help

my classes philosophy is WHAT IS A NURSING STUDENT WHO GRADUATES WITH A "C" A NURSE. as far as the math part if ya can just remember dosage ordered devided by dosage on hand multiplied by the volume you shouldnt have much to worry about lol dosage ordered ______________ X volume/ml= amount given dosage on hand this calculation is for adults but for the kids it is just as easy I think anyway just 3 formulas you have to remember. and in fractions divide the top number by the bottom number and u get the answer our instructor lets us use a calulator too that also helps. our grading scale 100-93=A 86-92=B 77-85=C below 77 you fail I have failed a few exams, but have ended up with at least a B in the specific part we were in anatomy is lots of memorization the rest to me at least is fairly easily learned I was terrified of Pharmacology but ended with a 92 only because it was mostly calculations and memorizing some drugs and their effects and im not talkin bout individual drugs but more like drug classifications ie: antiinfectives instead of each drug like z-pac or penicillin. we are now in OB and so far so good, definetly have to study this section alot harder than what i thought it was gonna be. I had 3 kids thought i knew alot lol well boy did the whole class learn on the very first exam. class average was 82 a C thank god for bonus points lol I ended up with 92 on that test but a big one on monday and im scared lol anyway not sure if I helped or hindered just my experience Christi SPN graduate June 06 wohooooooooooooooooooooooooo half way over

ok so it soaked in a little, its the second week of august almost, and we had a final in nursing concepts, I made a 92 for the overall average in nursing concepts, i cant complain, lol only 1 point away from an A that nutrition pop quiz i took and there was another the next day on different materials, i failed em both, so brought my average from an A to a B can u believe a 92 is a B lol sorry just had to get that out.... We are on to A & P now wohooooooooo studied my hiney off this past week to soak in 1 chapter lol, cant wait till clinicals, I have found it hard to decide which is the BEST answer since there are mostly 2 good answers grrrrrrrrr why do they do that lol thanks everyone Christi

Ok been in class for 7 days had 4 exams already, and now we are in nutrition, we had a popquiz today omg i was so frustrated, i completely missed #1 didnt even see the question and couldnt answer number 10 till i was done and thought about it. by then it was too late, test already turned in. oh well anyone with advice on nutrition,,,, im having a hard time soaking in the information. btw on the other 3 exams i have made A's and I know I failed this popquiz could only miss 2 to pass kinda frustrating thanks gang christi

how do u find out about the reputation, or accreditation, I mean i saw an add in the newspaper said accepting applications for LPN program, and applied (didnt look into all the other stuff) I mean how will i know if I learned what I needed to lol, that thought just came to me lol

hmmm to prepare lets see, I am spending the most amount of time with my kids ages 10,8,7 making sure they know that i love them but for the next year it is about momma and our future. You should have heard their excitement when I told em mom got in and danced around the room if only I had a video camera. Im pinching every penny, in order to be able to survive, as I will not be working, and will basicly be living off of what is left of my pell grant. and the wonderful WIA PROGRAM, b/c I was a dislocated worker the Unemployment people will be paying my school. oh ya and I will get some unemployment, tho I think it wont be much more than 100 a week. so im getting all the help that I will need set up b4 school starts. tho im sure u were referring to what I was doing to prepare for school. besides coming on here and reading everything, that is it im relaxing and enjoying the fact that I actually made it in. :balloons: my philosophy till school starts. just chill cause once it starts is when the real work begins. gl to u and urs christi

Im not sure about the others buts mine is at a technical school,,, instead of at a normal or community college tho that is in the future. I couldnt imagine waiting that long im on pins and needles now and I actually have cpr class on Monday June 13 wohooooooooooo and maybe I can even ask some questions. lol wohooooooooo ready to go lol christi :balloons: :rotfl:
