I'm in school right now, in Ohio to become an lpn. Our tuition is about $8,300 but that included books and uniform a nursing kit and it covers payment of the NClex.

At Concorde,

Mine was $15,000. Yep, fifteen thousand! From what I understand, the new classes are around 20K now. In Colorado the only non-wait list RN schools cost an additional 25K, (private schools), for the one year.

As hard as jobs are to find, I really wonder if it was worth it. CNA's and MA's make more here than we do. With a BS is computer science and 3 classes away from finishing an MBA in project management, I wonder if I should just go back to the world of IT or something.

I do question the so called shortage of nurses. Maybe they mean a shortage in Siberia!

Come to Florida. There's plenty of jobs here, though you might not like the pay. :uhoh21:

Free! Well, free to me. I got it through the US Army nursing school.

Fort Sam Huston! Hoorah! Free for me, too! Second half of training took place at Fort Bliss in 1996. I would recommend the military to those who dont mind being told what to do every 2 minutes. I, personally, couldn't take much more of it. There are other ways to get a free nursing education. There are government grants. Do the research. The money is there and its FREE!

I went to a technical school in houston,tx and the total cost was $2400. I had to pay for books and uniforms separate of the above cost but I found a lot of my books used on amazon much cheaper. They also had a tuition defferal program we all had to pay the first installment of $800 and then they deffered the rest and if they found you a job the debt was forgiven after 2 yrs and if they didn't you only had to pay back $800 of the $1600 they deferred. Good luck to all.

It costs 3000 for the LPN program here. However there is a program that is for nursing students-more than half of the students are enrolled in it.It is geared towards those who dont have a degree and want to become nurses. They also base it on income. They give you a gas card, pay for uniforms, tuition, books, clinical supplies, and pay for daycare. It's great .There are some people I know who wouldnt have graduated otherwise.

Yes it's true, it was free.

I got my training in high school. I went to Clara Barton High School for the Health Professions in Bklyn. :p

Graduated when I was 18, passed my LPN state board and started working at 19. I only paid $150 to take the state boards.

I can't stress it enough to young people everywhere please try to get a career in high school so if something should happen that you can't make it to college until a later date(like me) you have something to fall back on.

Spread the knowledge to the young, please. :)

very smart move. I wish we had those kind of high schools in nj.

I graduated from a junior college in 1972, it was around 400.00

But that ws a lot of money in those days! :)

Reservists only. And, now only IRR Navy. I just recently interviewed for a position at an LPN school, for teaching. I enquired about the cost. I could not believe it! $16,000 it cost per student just to get an LPN. Money seems better spent on going to a JR College to get an ADN, instead. Why do so many choose to spend that kind of money for an LPN? I dont get it. In a way its good for me, though. I'll probably get a part time teach position out of this.

Hi,

Hi, I just graduated, my school was a little over 5000 for four months and was all inclusive, books and everything else.(except for uniforms) lol. I was able to get a grant through the states unemployment/work force department office based on my financial situation, THANK GOD! about 1/3 of my class was going on a grant as well.

Our school also has an outstanding reputation for being though and they WERE but we are one of the best in our state with a 100% pass rate in the last five years.! Anyone thinking of LPN school in south jersey should call the Camden county technical school!

Good luck!
