Purchase a stethoscope in a color that nobody likes, because it will be much less likely to 'walk off' the unit...

My current one is black, but it was a surprise birthday present so I didn't get to pick a color. I am planning on buying myself one for graduation and will maybe get a purple or green one.

dark green Littman. I didn't want black and thought dk green would be more "professional' but I like the brighter colors now I think.

Ha ha! Me too. Its a Lightweight burgandy Littman. Works great.
Haha! My stethescope is a burgundy Littman. I wish we were allowed more extravagant ones because it could ease the conversations between some of the more stoic patients, but as of now, I'm only allowed this one. :)

My first beloved stethoscope was black and it lasted for 3 years, although it was one of those cheapy, super heavy ones, it was great for lung sounds!!! but it died on me while doing an assessment. R.I.P. dear stethoscope.
But my boyfriend gave me a Raspberry Littman for my LVN graduation, which I haven't even used just yet, but I love it!!
Now, I have a question... does using a peds stethoscope on an adult patient, make sounds more clear???

Hi there!I decided on burgundy. I really wanted an ultrascope, but our school won't permit them so I'm going with the Littman. I was going to go with black b/c of the "professionalism" etc...but then I thought for me it's boring.Frankly I think they could do more with the range of colors but that's not our purpose for being there! Good luckMichele

Michele, what is the reason your school doesn't permit them?
OP- I have a Ultrascope with my name, R.N. engraving and lavender tubing...I love it and easy to spot if someone tries to walk off with it.

I have a black one that has a double lumen. But I cover it with a blue cloth cover that has a cool yellow smiley face at the neck.

I just ordered the all black littman. I was thinkingabout the pink breast cancer one but I really wanted the "master" classic. Besides my dh wanted to get me a military one that was all black so this one will atleast look like his idea:lol2:

I currently have 3, all infant ones: a "cheapo" pink that I've used for years, works just great; an infant Littman in Carribean-there's not much selection for infant Littmans-; and a pink Ultrascope I just bought last week. It's a bit heavier, I'll just have to give it a test drive for a while.
The one I truly dislike is the double tubing Sprague-Rappaport style--I don't like anything heavy on my neck. I was always throwing it down in disgust.
I've also got an adult Select Littman, royal blue; I figure I might have to use it on my mother some day.
Do you think I'm over-equiped?
I agree , my double tube scope weighs a TON! plus you can injure yourself quite easily when you fling it around your neck ~!
