First of all you obviously missed the point of that quote. Yes we've all agreed taht tpapn can be a useful/helpful program to those nurses who did "abuse" their license and want a second chance. However, for someone to be punished for something dumb they've done 15 yrs ago is absolutely absurd. The BNE is not protecting the patients, there, they are simply for looking for someone they can threaten with losing their license so they can suck some money out of them for this so called non profit organization.

Well from what I read you have to work a min. of 64 hrs a month. And ofcourse no over nights or on call (atleast that's for me). And I just looked up nnoc and it says it's the national nurses organizing comittee....don't exactly know what they do but I can find out unless someone fills us in......hmmm......

I think we should!! Does this mean that I'm not supposed to be on this either. I can not prove to anyone that I've been sober but I haven't been arrested (for anything....no law problems here anymore) 6 years and they had me join TPAPN just a few months shy of my 5 yrs since conviction. I went to a rehab but that was 6 yrs ago. Hmm..... I know I shouldn't be on it but when I asked about still going before the board they said that I signed a binding agreement and could not. I'm all for a fight it's paying for it that doesn't sound feasible for me, especially with some of the posts I've read!

I know that other states have similar programs like california and I think Penn. But I don't know if all do. I tested in NY and they gave me license without a problem. It wasn't until we moved here that I even heard of a program like this (btw, didn't know til I was on it what it really was!!)

I see that you're not "pointing" the finger at anyone. But what you say has nothing to do with me. I did not jeopardize my license. I wasn't even given the chance to use it in this state. The fact that TPAPN states that go on a case by case basis is a lie. They don't even know why you're in the program (cm's I mean). And I don't care how many cases they deal with. They chose that job. They lump everyone in to this one category and that's just not right. Also, employers look at you like you have the plague when you say the infamous "four-letter word". They don't care what happened why you're on it, nothing. It's too much of a hassle. So, for me, anyway, I'm pretty much stuck with a useless license, unless I trot my happy *ss back to NY where they will let me work......that's a whole other story though. Anyway, I do think it's a good program if you did screw up and stole meds or something like that but for me it's a waste of money, energy, time, and I'm sure it's like that for many.

WEll I spoke with my cm and she said she would bring this in to their staffing meeting tomarrow to see if any exception can be made. She told me to contact the don and have her call her.....So, now I can't get in contact with the don. This is so frustrating. I think this is the absolute perfect job I could ask for right now (seeing as I have no experience-it'd start out like a clinical). So, I had a little hope this morning but it's slowly fading on this job. Thanks for the advice easttexas. I'll try to remember all that on my next interview.

I just want to say that I've been on TPAPN since Febuary. The same thing was said to me. I've been out of school since July '05. Now it's taken me this long to be endorsed by the state of Texas with all my lovely stips. So, I had a great job offering in a hosp. on a surgical floor. Well, they were all ready to hire me TPAPN and all. I can't pass narcs for 6 mos so now the job is a no go. It's such a bummer. It's so frustrating. I'm going to call and see if they might bend the rules for me but I doubt it. I dui's from when I was 18 and this is why I'm on TPAPN. But this is hard. Who wants to hire someone who's been outta school for 2 yrs and has no experience. UGH!! I feel for all of you having this trouble. I wish I went to the board before I decided to do this program.

I just ordered the all black littman. I was thinkingabout the pink breast cancer one but I really wanted the "master" classic. Besides my dh wanted to get me a military one that was all black so this one will atleast look like his idea:lol2:

does anyone know about hospitals in El Paso Tx area? God, I wish I never moved. I lived in NY and the lowest offer someone got in my class was $18 (I think westchester medical) and that was b/c they'll pay your ongoing tuition. I'm just hoping it's more than $13. What a rip if not

Well, keep your fingers crossed for me....the job's almost in the bag.....and I still need to get approval from my cm to take the job....but all seems to be going well.....finally....(I hope)

Thanks....Well, I did want the pink awareness but I more wanted the master classic and they do that I guess. So, that's what I ordered today and it's the all black model.....I'm excited...... Thanks for pos. advice!

Hi all I'm new to posting here and wanted some advice. First off let me give some background.... I graduated nursing school 2 years ago in NY and it's taken this long to be allowed to work in the great state of TX.. I'm an LPN and I somehow (longer story) was summons to TPAPN. Anyway, I just had an interview for a surg/ortho floor and as long as my case mgr approves me I'll finally have my first job. So SCARED!! That's my first thought. But I'm excited. Anyway I've been reading about stethoscopes. And I see that Littmann is #1 in most eyes. I was wondering if there were any major differences between the master cardiology and the master classic II. I read not to go for the expensive one as it may walk off but if the cardio is that much maybe I would want it. What do you all think?? Oh and since it is my first job would it be wrong if I went with the classic to get the pink breast cancer awareness one? I mean yes it's a good cause but it may make me stand out and I don't know if that's so good when I'm so new. Any advice would be great!! TIA

Well my husbands in the army and we moved here right after I finished school in NY. I don't understand why they would have me do this. They're looking at DwI's from when I was 19 y/o. Right now I unfortunetly don't have a choice but to do whatever they ask so I can begin working. NY did not give me any problems. It's very frustrating and there is little info on what TPAPN entails online. I have read some of the threads and I just see that many people would rather start a new career than deal with this.

Hi all. I'm a newly licensed lpn out of the state of NY. I applied to TX and they've sent me back recommedations to do this TPAPN thing. I've been trying to find things online about it but am having a hard time. What does this entail? Is there alot of traveling I need to do?? The reason for the refferal is that When I was 18 and 19 I got a couple dwi's. Nothing since. NY licensed me immediately. Can anyone give me some info or any opions on this matter.
