I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.
The weaponization of pejorative labeling and the substitution of pointless snark and carefully crafted lies for actual reasoned argument is integral to human politics from time immemorial. No one has a corner on that particular market.
My beef with the Republican Party as well as conservative mass media is that they made this their preferred strategy as far back as the southern strategy, the Nixon administration, Reagan's welfare Queen, Gingrich's list of words and on and on. This has never been acknowledged by any of the self-described "conservatives" who have scolded us or flounced off in a huff because of "disrespect" (read: disagreement).
You get the respect you give.
Pets of entry continue to be the primary pathway of drugs across our border. Unfortunately, the members of the party that uses immigration and the border as rally cries for their voting base can always find a reason not to fund the CBP in their efforts. Maintaining the disfunction gives them something to complain about and their voters seem unable to discern what is going on.
And on a lighter note ...

A stray dog found overseas by U.S. Army First Lt. Tad (full name withheld upon request) has been successfully rescued and brought to safety here in the U.S.
New York nonprofit Paws of War answered the soldier's call earlier this month to retrieve the starving and abandoned pup named Gus.

Of course, to simply say Republicans don't want to fund CBP isn't accurate, is it?
From the article linked to in your post:
"Congressman Troy Nehls (R-TX-22) homed in on a portion of the bill that prohibits the use of funds set aside for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) "to acquire, maintain, or extend border security technology and capabilities, except for technology and capabilities to improve Border Patrol processing.”
The bill would grant CBP an additional $1.6 billion for "border management requirements" and allocate $340 million for Immigration and Customs Enforcement for "non-detention border management requirements.”

Did you bother to read the article @toomuchbaloney referenced here? Specifically where it read:

Agreed. I was a daily consumer of right wing talk radio and Fox programming in the early 2000s. The animus drove me away. My growing faith at that time couldn't accommodate the steady stream of divisive and dishonest ideology.
