I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

And why would the great and smart Obama not release his grades? Easy because he was admitted as a foreign exchange student.
Yep. Right wing crazy talk.
Just look at all of the evidence and proof you've presented to support that crazy belief. (That was sarcasm) You've apparently convinced Beerman without offering any evidence, he must enjoy that type of nonsensical animus or maybe he believes that crap too. This must be like convincing Republicans that elections are rigged... no evidence required.
Discernment is such an important skill set...
President Bush's grades were leaked but he didn't give permission. Trump's lawyers threaten to sue if his grades were leaked. But Obama not releasing his because his grade report would say "foreign exchange student" is a new conspiracy theory to me. Good one.
The release of health records has not been standard practice like tax returns. But that Clinton had VD to hide is another good conspiracy theory.
But I get it, the idea that "you have something to hide by not sharing your personal information" is a normal reaction. Also I think it's a very reasonable one surrounding Trump and his adamantly bucking tradition there. This from the man that wanted to see Obama's birth certificate because he felt Obama was hiding something.
I think the bar should be higher for the President than say the general public in what they should disclose, but a complete dive into private matters, or health matters that have been treated, maybe not so.

Why do you suppose that some Americans are unable to discern the difference between garbage partisan conspiracy theories and actual facts or evidence? This is, arguably, the age of information but clearly not all information is accurate or well intentioned. Most of the information coming from the 45th president, for instance, is inaccurate and intended to benefit him politically and financially using division and grievance.
How did we get to a place where millions of Americans defend a liar and a cheat while simultaneously whining about imagined liars and cheats using made up nonsense as evidence?

Even after this fellow ran as a Republican in 2020, no one in the party cared enough to check up on even one of his claims. It's not like this fellow's loose relationship with truth or honor is an outlier... just consider some of the people elected...Boebert, MTG, Trump... and a good number of those who couldn't get elected, like Kari Lake or Herschel Walker.
But sure, its all the fault of liberal opponents and the press that they don't vet republican candidates before the republican party backs them for office. That's what republican accountability looks like... finger pointing.
Apparently Democrat voters in his district are willing to overlook his falsehoods. Can't say I blame them.
"But disgust for Democrats is so strong among some voters in the district whose seat he flipped, they’d rather have a fabulist representing them in Congress.
Of course it bothers me,” Daniel Zimmerman, a 70-year-old registered Democrat, told POLITICO as he left a local pharmacy Thursday in Great Neck, a waterfront enclave in the heart of the district. But, he added, he’d vote for Santos again. “Right now I’m a Republican because Democrats, they’re destroying our country. I don’t like the president,” said the voter who is unrelated to Santos’ Democratic opponent, Robert Zimmerman.
A registered Republican outside a Dollar Tree in Glen Cove, another waterfront community in Nassau County, echoed those sentiments, saying she was more wary of the Democratic Party than Santos, canards and all.
“Truthfully, I don’t trust the Democrats on anything they say. I see it on the TV and I turn it off,” said the woman, who declined to give her name for privacy reasons."

When I read your article, I only see that only one admitted democrat says they voted for Santos. The other voters quoted were either republicans or say they voted for his opponent.

The exact same things could be said about the Biden’s.

LOL. Is that what you believed was the focus of the article or were you just cherry picking quotes in case we didn't already know that there are foolish people of all political persuasion?
It is interesting to read about and observe people trying to justify supporting a liar and conman. Supporting Trump has conditioned millions of Americans to make excuses for obvious lies. Millions of Americans have seemingly lost their ability to discern between fact and fiction... and maybe between right and wrong when it comes to politics. This is what the phenomenon of a slippery slope looks like in politics.
I wonder if things would be different had we held Nixon accountable.

Sure... you have a tendency to say quite a number of untrue and extreme things in these threads so that would be expected.

I don't think it's actually about what on the tax returns (I know MY questions won't be answered by his tax returns) but rather as 1. an indictment of the IRS who didn't do the required audit and 2. an indictment of our tax code that it would be so regressive that millionaires and billionaires can pay 0 income taxes. That part, of course, isn't Trump's fault. However, it's possible that the IRS was pressured by the Trump administration to drag their feet on his audit. No one should be allowed to be president without releasing their taxes returns. It's too fraught with danger.

Of course it is. That's the reason the Dems wanted them released in the first place, and still is. It's to make political points out of him not having to pay.

Sure. Sure. It couldn't have anything at all to do with the fact that he's a corrupt and dishonest character who lives in various depths of debt... often owed in large sums to foreign entities with questionable ethics. It couldn't have to do with the fact that we know that he ran a fraudulent charity and his Trump business is guilty of fraud while he was apparently making cash donations to offset income for tax purposes. I mean, why would you want to check up on a well known liar and cheat? Well, maybe you and other Republicans wouldn't want to but the rest of us prefer to know who we are hiring
I wonder if he would have been able to pass the standard check for top secret clearance had he not been president. My personal experience says "no".

If it were 2016 I would agree.
But all these years later, it's well known because he has said so that he didn't pay any taxes, you even say this. He said it's because he's so smart.
Sure people will take notice, and maybe some will make a big deal of it, but I'd venture a guess it's met with a "yeah tell us something we didn't already know".

Fair enough. Over the year DeSantis says over 500,000 jobs were created. Like Biden he'll put forward the best number.
I remember some discussion along this line during the Obama years and the recovery from the Great Recession about the "true employment numbers" vs. the number that were reported.
DeSantis can brag that our unemployment rate dropped to 2.6% and job growth but his opponents can say 51,000 unemployment claims were made., that wages are below the national average and those jobs are low paying.
Also the good numbers don't reflect the level of hardship. Yesterday at work my Gen Z coworkers were talking among themselves while charting about how their rents were going up. One CNA with five kids (not a single mother) was saying hers was going up $400 a month. Another RN was saying she was going to work overtime to continue to save for a house because her rent increases weren't letting her save for the deposit. Boomers here are struggling to pay homeowners, on and on.
However, if things continue to go well and when/if DeSantis runs for President he's going to look good with how Florida is doing in certain numbers he can put forward..as he should. As Biden should.
