I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Last time this was brought up, just a few weeks ago, Chare asked,
"How would you define "excess corporate profits?" And have you considered what effects this might have on retirement accounts that might be invested in these corporations?"
Her questions were ignored. If you're going to bring up this topic again, maybe you could give us your thoughts?

That's a favorite go to point though isn't it? "But he lost the popular vote". No, he won the election fair and square in the same way previous presidents have. Unless of course there is questioning of the 2016 presidential election results? No, it's not election denying when democrats do it.
I think dying of a fantasy OD would be very violent, so that person is a violent offender who was let out without bail?
More laughable is that Beerman is quoting something from the Nov. 15 Post who's cover is that day of is devoted to a model on vacation. But, at least, Murdoch put the "A Florida man makes a speech" story on page 26. Thank you NYP. That was a good laugh.

Are we talking of the oil consumer or BP? The Brits don't drive as many living rooms on wheels as we do; fortunately the roads are too narrow:)

Her questions were not ignored. I proposed that excess profit be defined after congressional research. And profits are still allowed so stock owners will receive dividends. Are you saying a middle income family deserves to be price gouged so that an imaginary retiree won’t lose stock value? Last I heard, stocks carry risk.

I also find it strange that this reported recieves a hasty discipline when other reporters have vastly and even dishonestly slandered people to no end. Even causing the network they work for to be sued for millions. They have their jobs.
It's amazing that some do not think there is a dual standard depending on who the subject matter applies to?
They trusted the wrong employee. Story removed; employee fired. Time to move on. No conspiracy here. Even Fox News has no facts to refute anything; just innuendo. Not the first reporter to release a false story. Check our Stephen Glass. This isn't the first time a reporter was caught with their pants down.

I don't give the administration a pass on their failure with regards to fentanyl coming into the country and killing so many people.
How over the decades we've been unable to stop illegal drug trafficking is a mystery (but probably because of billion dollar drug cartels).
Overdose deaths are at an all time high. Fentanyl is a powerful drug. There was a surge in overdose deaths when there wasn't necessarily a surge at the border during covid. There was a surge in 2016-2017https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/12/21/572080314/life-expectancy-drops-again-as-opioid-deaths-surge-in-u-s
I won't say the border isn't a problem. It's just not necessarily the root cause of American demand that's been there for decades. US Citizen drug smugglers and drug dealers have somehow found a way to meet that demand. That's a problem in addition to the border being relatively easy to smuggle drugs in.
Most people I've heard that are overly concerned about the border rarely mention fentanyl which is why I ask "how does that affect your day to day life?".
Let's see: lots of people at the border means that lots of fentanyl gets through. Ha-Ha. The sky is blue; my pants are blue. So my pants must account for the blue sky! Ha-ha. Fentanyl comes in the MAIL these days. China and increasingly, India are the major manufacturers. But we can SEE the people at the border so lets just blame them. To hell with the facts. Tweety, you explain your positions so patiently. I don't know how you do it:)

He was assaulted. That isn't in question.
The account that has been wildly circulating has the cops coming in, and Pelosi and the assailant were in the room both holding on to the hammer. The assailant then got control of the hammer and assaulted Pelosi.
The NBC report that was quickly retracted, has the cops knocking on the door, and Pelosi opens it himself. Instead of running out, he goes back into the room with the assailant, where he then gets assaulted. They also said the assailant was in the home for 30 minutes before the cops arrived. Also of note, the cops didn't seem to know whose home they were responding to. Now, a local NBC station is reporting this account. And, they have spoke to someone who claims to have seen the bodycam footage.
The federal indictment and the SF DA's report also have different accounts of the situation when cops arrived.

It is a fact that most of the fentanyl that makes it's way to the US comes from Mexico. Not in the mail from China. And not through Canada.

I've done a bit more reading on this topic the past few days. While the border is definitely out of control and is not secure, I've come around to believe that you are right in that it likely isn't the reason behind the fentanyl issue.
