I was wondering what type of ID do you wear? One around your neck or clipped onto your pocket. Also I was wondering what do you carry in the pockets of your scrubs?

I can totally see this becoming the new hip accessory for CNAs and nurses. Or at the very least, a nice pocket-filled messenger bag slung diagonally across from left shoulder to opposite hip. ;) :lol2:

Don't laugh. Our SWAT nurses pretty much have those.

Specializes in Neuro ICU.

My badge clips to my scrubs at the bottom of the V-neck. Several "pieces of flair" with the badge: RN dangle, FACES card, 2 Mission statement cards, RACE/PASS and codes (Blue, Red, Black, Pink, etc) reference, etc. I want a retractor for it, but haven't found a free one yet.

Left chest pocket- retractable sharpie, calipers, black pen (plan to add a highlighter soon).

Don't use the slash pockets.

Left cargo pocket 1: pen light, quick reference cards on a key ring- ACLS algorithms, FACES card, PCA/Epidural card, drip rates, a few others

Left cargo pocket 2: trauma shears, flushes

Left shin pocket: wallet, cell phone

Right cargo pocket 1: stethoscope

Right cargo pocket 2: sterile gloves, size 7.5.

Question: why do folks carry gloves in their pockets?

I carry extra sterile gloves for when I have to suction OET's. The gloves that come with the suction caths are not made for large hands.

I am always somewhat surprised when I see women using the gloves from the kit and they look like little kids wearing their parents stuff.

If the gloves are too big for most women and too small for an average guy, just who are they meant to fit?

Id clipped on uniform above waist - hospital policy because the pts can't see if if its lower - which makes sense. Besides it is the patients rights and the law to ID all healthcare workers to the patients.

Pockets: stethoscopy, pens 2-3, sissors, hemostats, alcohol pads, saline flush or two, tape, pda with drug information loaded, critical care drug infusion pocketbook if working ED or ICU.

Clipboard: report sheet, copies of new orders, important phone numbers, and other cheat sheets.
