What do you carry...

I was wondering what type of ID do you wear? One around your neck or clipped onto your pocket. Also I was wondering what do you carry in the pockets of your scrubs?

I have an ID clipped to the V-neck of my scrub top. It's attached to a retractable holder.

In my pockets:

stethoscope

gait belt

Post-its

Sharpie

black ballpoint pen

highlighter

alcohol swabs

extra trashbags

extra gloves

bandage scissors

paper tape

hand lotion

hand sanitizer

list of vital signs to get

copy of CNA careplan

tea bag

snack

wallet

cell phone

When I walk around, I look like a monster.

holy stuffed pockets batman!

My ID clips onto my scrub top.

In my pockets you can find:

different color pens

highlighter

black marker

dry erase marker (to write on pts board in the morning)

tape

flushes

alcohol swabs

scissors

chapstick

small gloves (impossible to find on my unit)

penlight

little pieces of paper to jot stuff down

I have 8 pockets and it's not enough.

I should save myself the trouble and buy a backpack on wheels. :D

I have my ID attached to a retractable holder and clip it to the V in my scrub top.

In my pockets..hummm..lets see (I only use the two pockets at the bottom of my top)

Right pocket holds:

lip balm (my floor air is so dry my lips feel like sandpaper without balm)

blue pen

black pen

pink, yellow and orange highlighters

black sharpie marker

bandage scissors

roll of tape

and my med cart keys

left pocket:

gloves (tons of them)

keys to narc drawer

post-it pad

a few dollars for the vending machine for bottled water and my sugar kick heehee

front pocket of my scrub pants always has the print out of the advanced directives of all my patients..all my full codes are highlighed in the most obnoxious colored highlighter I can get my hands on

My med cart is never far from the room I'm in, so alcohol wipes, my patient assignment, hand sanitizer, hand lotion etc is on/in my cart. I keep my stethescope around my neck (yeah I know, oils from my neck and hair ruin the tubing blah blah blah) but I don't like how it feels in my pockets and when I tried to put it in my pocket when I'd pull it out it would pull out all the other things in my pockets making a mess on the floor.

I'm a creature of habit, one day quite by mistake just grabbed my "stuff" and shoved them into any pocket..ahhh..I was going crazy trying to remember and find what stuff was where. Its habit for me to put my hand in my right pocket to get into my med cart..when i switched it..i kept putting my hand in the right pocket..some things are better left unchanged with me :)

haha thank you CoffeemateCNA. The thought of seeing another CNA walking around with a wheely backpack made me :lol2:

I can totally see this becoming the new hip accessory for CNAs and nurses. Or at the very least, a nice pocket-filled messenger bag slung diagonally across from left shoulder to opposite hip. ;) :lol2:

My ID is worn on a breakaway lanyard around my neck. I've yet to have a patient pull it off.

My pockets have my keys, pens, penlight, at least one pair of rubber gloves, note paper, a little money, and lip balm/lipstick. We travel light in psych ;)

In the hospital I carry: pen, scissors, highlighter, sharpie, 1-2 gloves, alcohol swab, tape and stethoscope.

In the community I carry: pen, keys and $ and a large bag full of stuff.

My badge clips onto my clothing or I have a few pins that it can clip to. I try to minimize the amount of stuff that goes from room-to-room or house-to-house.

My ID is clipped to my scrub top.

In my right scrub top pocket I carry:

1 sharpie

1 black ball point pen

1 pair of scissors

1 pair of foreceps

In my left scrub top pocket I carry:

1 pager

1 worksheet

In my left pants pocket I carry

alcohol wipes and red caps

In my right pants pocket I carry flushes

hahahaha I've actually got a system now that I take time to write it out :)

My ID badge I wear around my neck.. I have one of those beaded lanyards ... so cute but expensive! The first one broke all over the floor. Beads everywhere!

In my pocket I have my cell phone(I do not use it during work..ever.) hand cream, med cart keys, pens, and my little notebook. Thousands of things end up in my pockets throughout the shift.

ID on retractable holder clipped to the neck of my top. Steth around my neck (careful though, almost got strangled with it once...). Alcohol wipes in this perfect alcohol wipe-sized pocked on my scrub pants. Black pen and pen light clipped to right pocket. Scissors in right pocket. Red pen, dry erase marker, roll of tape, floor phone and calc in left pocket. Carry all my notes on a clipboard. Also guilty of being a creature of habit. Started out carrying a lot more, but it was too bulky. At times I've wished for a tool belt. Or the courage a friend of mine possesses to actually wear a fanny pack. :p
