Deep partial thickness burn--dressing ?
I would have to say the nurse was in the wrong here. They should not have let it "breathe". This allowed for bacteria to get in and also the healing tissue to dry out. It should be kept moist and covered.

RN to BSN doesn't feel right.
I know what you're saying completely..I am a single mom. My son is 4. I am so relieved to be done with my Associate's and yet, here I am having to go back to school because they are really pushing everyone to have their BSN. Have you considered online classes? This has really helped me. I am able to finish the work on my own time(after my son is asleep or while he naps, etc). They have so many programs available that are 100% online. Just a thought:-)

when to give and hold PRN morphine
I agree that I would have given the PRN morphine as long as VS were stable. I would feel uncomfortable however giving repeated doses of morphine 2mg/hr. If the patient was not getting any pain relief from the first hourly dose or so I would probably contact the doctor and try and get something different for pain. Sometimes patients just respond differently and morphine does nothing for them and dilaudid does wonders...or vice versa..Also, I've seen combinations or "cocktails" seem to do amazing things too. Depending on the type of surgery a doctor could prescribe valium or another medication to reduce muscle spasms, etc and that mixed with pain meds does the trick.

LIttman Brass/Black stethoscope Stand out?
Yeah. I got mine in a color I knew nobody on my floor had at the time and also a different style from anyone else. It also has a few personalized things on it so when I see it I know its mine. Much easier to spot and also if someone did decide to walk with it theyd have a hard time explaining themselves.

How far do you go with precautions...
At the hospital I've been a nursing assistant at for 5 years(just passed my boards yesterday) even the nursing assistant is supposed to bring the computer into the room to chart vital signs...however if the patient is on isolation the computer remains outside the room and once you exit the room and wash your hands you chart your vitals...same with RNs and medpassing..computer in the room with them to chart on the MAR unless they are isolation and then charting is outside the room.
