What brand/type of shoe should I get?

Hi, I just started my first job as an RN - It's on a med/surg floor - and I was just wondering what you have found to be the most comfortable shoe/sneaker to wear. The sneakers I have are killing me after a shift of being on my feet the whole day, have you found anything that helps with some of the discomfort?

Thanks, Jennifer

I am on my feet all 12 hours of my shift as an ER tech, and absolutely LOVE my "Quark for Nurse Mate" clogs. They are light weight, snug (you won't walk out of them), and have holes in the bottom to "air-out" your feet (without the risk of getting bodily fluids on you). The best part is you can bleach the outside!! They run about $65.

If you prefer to wear gym shoes try New Balance. They are very comfortable.

Crocs are the best and they can go from the foot to the washer without problem..

I have heard that Crocs are super-comfy. I just work where a lot of blood gets spilled on the floor when pts get up to BR...no thanks. Otherwise I would be getting myself a pair RIGHT NOW. I have a pair of New Balance that I really like.

It really, really depends on your feet. Crocs and clogs kill me. The only things that DON'T are $22 Cobbie Cuddlers from K-Mart and $18 Dr Scholl's from Wal*Mart with $67 Dr. Scholl's Memory Foam Inserts.

I love my New Balance!! On my 3rd pair. I have 1 for home, 1 for work that stays at work & then the old ones too dirty to wear out of the yard!

Crocs!!!! no other shoe would do

Tried several options and i've never been happier.

My feet love Birkenstocks! There are several spin off companies of Birkenstock, but all have the Birkenstock foot bed. Betula, Birkies, .....Tatami is my favorite. I wear Crocs at home, Birkenstock to work.

I got the $18 Dr. Scholl's for nursing school and have continued to wear them. Not pretty, but very comfy. I also got inserts but didn't spend quite that much--maybe $2 or $3 at WalMart. I've since bought others, including a couple of pair from a mailorder shoe thing called Mason Shoes. They all worked well.
