With all the people waiting on pins and needles... I thought it might be nice to forget about getting into a program for now and talk about where you see yourself once you are done with nursing school....
I'll go first....
I would LOVE to work in the NICU at Children's Hospital in Mpls. I also see myself in L&D. I have always had a passion for babies and recently, pregnant women (after having 3 kids I've been facinated with pregnancy)... so L&D would be really wonderful for me as well....
My heart is with the babies though as I would love to really be a baby nurse...
So what do you all think??

My daughter was born 3 months early and it was a very trying time for us... I really think on of the reasons we made it was because of our nurses in the NICU... They were so sweet, caring, and really made us feel comfortable in at a very uncomfortable time in our lives. So... My heart is really in the NICU... or L&D... I'd love to work with babies.
I feel the same way. My daughter was in the NICU for a month... ever since i knew i had to be an NICU nurse.. and thats what im planning:heartbeat
I thought when I started school I wanted to be in L&D for sure...no question!! But in really thinking about it, I may want to pursue other areas.
I have been thinking that I may want to work with sick children...maybe at a childrens hospital or something. I have been thinking about what I can give and I think I can maybe lift the spirits of some children who are not feeling all that great for whatever illness they may have.
So, at this point, I am unsure, but once I get into clinicals, I know I'll figure it out!
I am possibly interested in becoming a lactation consultant. Next interest is working in the NICU. I have volunteered in both places before while in undergrad and enjoyed them both!! I learned so much about breastfeeding and am a strong advocate for it. :) I am amazed by the tiny neonates in the NICU - like the preemies and how they can live outside the womb when they are so young.
