  1. :Dthanks for this great advice. I will carry this on with me. thanks sooooooo much.
  2. Ranaa... thanks for your great information. SO if I was running a primary IV fluid and then stoped it to run the IVPB it's ok to flush it before restarting the IV primary? I just want to make sure I understand what you are saying. SO flushing it is enoght to clear the line. Sorry so many questions I am not a nurse yet.
  3. :confused:thanks so much, if you don't mind I have another quetion. What if the piggyback wasn't compatible. What can happen? I heard something like precipitation but what does that do? Can it kill the patient?
  4. hello I am a new CNA eventually going for my RN. I have heard piggyback what does this mean? Is it two fluids running together at the same tube? Also what does compatibility mean? For ex. if two drugs are compatible do you run both at the same time to go in in one tube in the patients arm? I thought I noticed the nurse shut off the 1st IV and then give the other medication so why look for compatibilities. Sorry for my ignorance.:uhoh21::uhoh21:
  5. :DHello anyone out there a SAHM and still does something nursing related as work from home. I don't mean stuff like legal stuff maybe more disease related where I would find myself looking things up. Any info would be interested.
  6. hello I was wondering if anyone here has seen the classes PA student take. I found it to be a lot like the MD classes. I also looked at NP and they don't have much other than the sciences of advance patho. I don't get it. WHere do you guys get the knowledge??? I know a few NP's and they know so much but where do they learn cause some of them just went straight through BSN to their MS and didn't even work. Pa's do Anatomy, dissections, Pathology, Enbryology, all the rotations?? I guess I am confuse any one can some how explain how NP's know so much. I know stupid question but I had to ask
  7. I haven't started lab yet but don't ever feel that you can't ask the instrctor what to do. That is why you are paying him to teach you. you don't want to end up getting a bad grade in this class b/c you didin't ask. Good luck
  8. hello I am so confused. anyone have a simple way of learning this. I am a visual learner so any websites with animations that someone knows of would be helpful. thanks
  9. hello I started on Monday too and so far wow lots of info. Can someone explain to me what an enzyme is?? I know it's a protein that accelerates chemicla reactions but so is catalyst. Are they interchangeable. the names I mean. Also what is a Electrolyte. When I look it up it's sodium, potassium.... ions but aren't these just ions why are they called electrolytes?? Is it b/c they are in water now?? anyone help!
  10. I am not sure if I can post this but I thought I give it a try. I don't know how many of you go into the chat room but I find it not to be very helpful whenI have questions. I guess it's a place where people are going for talk other than nursing.. Well I just thought of something. You know the Instant live messengers out there. What if we all did that. The MSN one. IT's free and we can all keep in touch instantly once our class starts. We can have it on and if someone has a question we can all try to answer right away. What do you guys think??? I could be nuts???
  11. Count me in. I start the 27th and yes I am sooooooooooo nervous as I have to take an exam either the first week or second week of class on the chemistry of the chapter and cell structures ahhhhhhhhhhh. I am trying to study for that now but seem to fall asleep every night. I have a very hard time in the AM because I have two little kids that require tons of attention. I do not work but they are a full time job. The only times I have to study is after they go to bed.
  12. Real... WOW you are almost there, hang in there and good luck!
  13. hello I am looking into getting into nursing but keep seeing stuff I wish I knew. My question is, if you see some one fall of a ladder or something and they break their hand?? What would you do. I saw this happen and someone ran for ice. Is this what is normally done?? I didn't think ice would do the trick. But who am I to say. Any suggestions of what is normally done when a broken bone occurs???
  14. hello everyone as a student I have gone through stuff that I wish I could know of what to do. i was jogging and saw a little boy about 9yrs take a fall from running away from an other kid. He fell very hard on the grass and hurt his elbow. He kept yelling " I broke my arm". I didn't know what to do. I was there so I felt I had to do something. Someone ran out to help him and make him move his harm and hand. I guess from all those tv shows I wouldn't of move his arm. What is the right thing to do?? How do you know if it's broken or just a horrible painful time in the elbow. Any info would be appreciated.
