Curious at what the average age is that people are in nursing school?
I am doing my pre reqs now and will be 28 when I start!
I am doing a second degree Accelerated BSN program. I was 27 when I started and will be 28 when I finish in a month and a half.
I sort of took the long way to BSN, decided to go to nursing school during the summer before my last fall semester, so I finished Psychology degree when I was 23, and stayed on and took what few classes I needed and finished BSN program when I was 25...Then finished MSN when I was 32. Then started PhD program when I was 34, put it on hold now...Now at 38 will be going back to complete doctoral degree, DNP program...
I am 55 and just graduated with my BSN. I am going to work in the ER as a trauma nurse....can you imagine? The best thing about being older is having the wisdom from past years experiences.....makes some of the courses in school easier. I had to retrain my brain to "think" again, and it took some time, but I got through school. My brother has decided to go to nursing school and he is 53 years old.....so he will be older than me when he gets out.

Dropped out of high school at 16. Got my grade 12 high school diploma at 23. Married and five children later, went through the LPN program at age 37. I am now 41 and will get my BScN degree in a year and a half. I
currently have a 4.0 GPA. It has been a challenge and absolutely the most rewarding thing I could ever do. It is never too late to be what you might have been!!:mortarboard:
