Susanne- I know it sounds like Im doing alot but I alternate between the sources im using. I do still find time to run 2 miles a day and read a good book at night. When I get overwhelmed I walk away from the books for a little while and take a rest. I dunno. I just want to make sure I get it right. I think the max hours Im actually studying is 3-4. Who knows if im doing it right. Obviously the first time around I wasnt. So we will see

oh, it sounded like you were studying every waking hour lol. I just got back from my run and I am sweating like a pig. So, if you do not mind me asking, but since you been through this before, how did you study the first time around?

susanne-the first time around I only did the ATI course. I finished the course 2 weeks before i got my att. Didnt study for the test those 2 weeks. Then got the att and tried to cram the last 2 weeks. I was doing questions but not really reading the rationales. I honestly felt rushed and my gut was telling me to reschedule which looking back I probably should have. So this time around I do a 3-4 hours a day. I have been able to do it the last couple of days at work because my boss was away on vacation lol. I only study till about 9 or 10 at night and thats sporadically. Like I said typically I come home take the dog and go for a run and then make dinner. By the time I get settled its normally about 7. So I do feel better this time. Craming is not the answer for something like this. I knew better the first time but didnt listen to myself :) I would go stur crazy if I did nothing but study 8 hours a day :D My brain would go on overload and shut down so i do a little here and there. Hopefully it all works out in the end.

I do not even know what an ATI course is. We had to do that hesi exam which was very difficult. I did not pass that one, because our school had a very high score, but in a way I think this will help me out, because in order to pass that Hesi I had to study like a maniac. I passed it on the fist of July and during that time I started to do Kaplan, which I finished on the 11th of August. Since then I have used Saunders and Nclex 3500. Like you I break my study time up. I do an hour in the morning, two in the afternoon and one more in the evening. I feel more ballanced that way. One thing that I have learned from Hesi, is not to make myself insane over the test. I went really nuts. They gave us a "fake"Hesi and since I did not think it was real I ended up scoring way above what we needed too. So that told me that anxiety obviously has a great deal to do with it. I feel more calm about the Nclex then the Hesi. The Hesi in my opinion was just insane.

Good luck to all, I will be taking my NCLEX for the first (and hopefully only time) on Sept 2. I've been reading the Saunders Comprehensive Review. I pray we all pass so we can start our careers as RN's!!

Be good to yourself to get that anxiety level a bit reduced. You know that many times when people fail its not because of knowledge, rather because their anxiety built up. Visualize yourself passing. The brain is a powerful tool! Good luck, will send prayers your way on the fourth!
