"I hurt my foot yesterday playing soccer. My parents said for you to look at it instead of going to the doctors." Of course, because I have a x-ray machine and radiologist at my disposal.
THIS! And now parent is mad because they are at work and have to figure out what to do with little darling. Ugh. Parent - its a VERB!

We've sent two home this morning. One for vomiting - bless his little heart, he told momma he was ok and could go to school. The other, "had a headache since Saturday and mom gave me medicine". Despite giving him Tylenol, and not actually checking his temp, he was still > 100. Then mom wanted to know why he couldn't come to school tomorrow....sigh

I'm sorry...this is just sad
I agree. I can't imagine being in that position. Plus side, they felt better after a peppermint (no breakfast) and hasn't returned after lunch so I really think they were just hungry. As for the pain the rest of the weekend....I've got nothing!

Are they getting enough food at home? We send home small backpacks with food to some our families. You can really only help so much of course.
(And does you state have medicaid? My state basically ensures every child can be enrolled in our state's version of medicaid. Still requires paperwork to be filled out by the legal guardian; that is sometimes the trickiest part.)

This family is unknown to me, actually. I've been talking with my admin assistant to see if we could gather more info for this reason though. My state does have Medicaid. We also have CHIP program.
