The wait is over. The door is open wide. Grab a comfortable chair, a cup of coffee (or whatever you like), some snacks, come in and plan to stay awhile. We appreciate your patience.
We have created some tutorial How-To Videos that will help you navigate and explore the new features. You will see many familiar things, but some may be in different places. There are also some new shiny features that you will discover. Explore and see what you can find. If you have questions post them below so everyone can benefit from the answers.
You will see the VIDEOS tab in the top toolbar. Clicking on that tab will take you to all the allnurses videos. Once there, click CATEGORY and How To. I suggest you start with Navigating the Home Page - Meet the New allnurses.com.
Below is a list of How-To Videos. Start with the Home Page Video… It will help you get your bearing. You can then start exploring… HAVE FUN. And remember… We are here to answer questions. Post them below.
Here's another video to get you going...

1.) are avatars no more?
2.) what happened to the Dashboard with the forums I've bookmarked?
Thanks in advance from a member who doesn't currently have time to watch all the videos that may or may not answer these questions! ?
Hello LibraSunCNM,
Right now, your "avatar" is the letter 'L' and is called the Profile Photo.
Click your name or the 'L' to get to your Activity wall. Once there, hover over and click the image icon on the L. Follow the directions and you will then be able to get a new Profile Photo (avatar).
To find your Followed (bookmark) forums: look in upper right of any page and click ACCOUNT. Scroll to Manage Followed Content. You will be able to mange which forums/content to follow, unfollow, etc.

Hello SafetyNurse1968
I did a lot of complaining yesterday but I have to say--I can now do the few things I want. I managed to set things so I see only the Nursing threads instead of both Nursing and Students.
My other main irritation was that when I clicked on the What's New tab it was showing every reply to a thread instead of just a listing of each thread and today it is no longer doing that.
So, now I'm thinking I'll progress to figuring out the black dot next to each thread under What's New. I know there have been numerous comments about it but it will take me forever to go back and find them all so I wanted to ask what the purpose of it is. As far as I can tell clicking on the black dot just brings up the original thread and all of the replies just like clicking on the title of the thread brings up the original and all of the replies. Am I wrong? Is there a difference between clicking on the black dot VS clicking on the title of the thread? If so, I'm not seeing it.
Also, even before the site was updated I never knew how to see more of the latest posts (What's New) than what was listed (meaning if I skipped a day I couldn't go back farther and see the previous day's new posts). Is there a way to do that?
Thanks in advance for any explanations.
Yesterday I was sure I was going to have to give up on AN but now I can stick around. I had no idea until reading everyone's recent questions that the site could be used so many ways. I still have no interest in Likes, following people, avatars, etc. but there are a few things I've read about that I may want to start using some day.

Ditto...I've watched the video and it ends with the creation of a new activity stream but doesn't reference how to access it. After I name and save my new activity stream my "What's New" simply defaults to everything afterwards...yes Rose, it's probably right in front of me!!

Great feedback - very helpful. ?
To answer your questions...
What's New will display all new content. This includes topics and comments from Forums, entries and comments from Clubs, new Products and their reviews, etc. I think you get the point.
Clicking on a title will take you directly to that content.
Now, there is a little dot before the title clicking on this will take you to the first UNREAD post.
This dot is a bit confusing. I don't like the location.
I will be changing this UNREAD button so that it looks the same as that found in other parts of the site. I'm just letting you know now so you don't get confused later. ?
