I thought I would start this thread because whenever someone pops up who we haven't seen for ages I'm always tempted to take the thread off topic just to say hi, where have you been.
I've missed the Tuesday evening chat room meet to so I thought here we can say hello, meet new UK nurses, find out what's been happening with each other and catch up.
I'll make this a sticky so it stays at the top.
I may take you up on that offer of help - I need to APEL as I start my Masters in Januray and I've never had to do that before.
I've been really lucky as I am not dropping a band to start this and if/when I complete my Master I get a rise. I'm really excited about starting this as it is something I've tried (and failed) to drive forward where I am working now. I know it will happen evetually but it is like swimming in treacle trying to move anything forward in the NHS - at least that has been my experience.
Jane I travel 60 miles a day to and from work and my weekly fuel bill is £30.I'm really glad you have your NP role in hand, if you need any help let me know, I've spent the last 4 years developing and progressing a nurse practitioner service where I work so I can help with business plans, job descriptions and that type of stuff. Also take a really good look at the KSF profile they try to give you and make sure it reflects the band your being paid.
Hi all, this is a great idea, still quite new to Allnurses but have found out sooooo much from the other nurses around the world. Well done Jane on your fantastic pass - im still waiting for my ATT and reading all the doom and gloom on both sides of the pond!! but still chasing the dream!! UK today USA some time in the very distant future xx
i still consider myself a uk nurse even although the nmc, have now put me on hold, as i have been here since 2004.
has the nmc taken the decision away from you with regards to keeping your registration active?
i was considering renewing my registration (you never know what's around the corner eh?) as i want to keep my options open.
so, if you've been out of the uk a while, can you not maintain uk registration?
.......anna, so glad to hear you're settled. your new homeland looks beautiful.
.......jane, congratulations on your nclex success.

My DH now has a job here in Phoenix but for the nxt month he now has two jobs, but am releived he did get one.
My eldest DD and her BF are here again for the 2nd time and DD loves it here two but has a strong bond with her BF abd of course he has no greencard so for the time being they are doing the vacation thing every few months.
Youngest DD now is at high school 5 mornings a week studyingAmerican and Arizona history and i carnt beleive it she love school over here, in the UK she despised school:confused: she also has a saturday job as a receptionist so enjoys the freedom of having her own money, she passed her written driving test in August now she has to wait 6 months to take the practical but in the meantime drives my car at every opportunity, so as i say life is sweet:D
