(Another excited student post; carry-on veterans!)
I can't believe summer is almost over...
Only 4 weeks of summer left and then it's back to the grind!
Who else is starting the RN program on August 24th?
Which classes do you have?
What's your schedule like?
What are you looking forward to the most?
What are you expecting the first semester to be like?
I too, will be going back to school on August 24th, going into my second year of nursing school.I am going for my BSN.
Last spring I took Introduction to Professional Nursing (Lecture class with a 3 hour clinical component) (this was the only nursing class I took)
This fall I will be take 3 nursing classes:
-Foundations of Nursing (50minute Lecture meets 3 times a week at 7:45am-8:35am MWF/6 hour (1 day) clinical component at 2:45 pm-8:45pm T)
-Client Assessment for Health Promotion (50 minute Lecture meets 2 times a week at 8:45am-9:35am MW /3 hour (1 day) clinical component at 1pm-4pm F)
-Pharmacology (1 hour 15 minutes Lecture meets 2 times a week at 4pm-5:15pm MW)
-Psychology of Personality (for my psych minor) (1 hour 15 minute Lecture meets 2 times a week at 9:30am-10:45am TR)
I am very nervous to have a busy schedule this this while also working weekends in retail. But I'm excited to get some more hands-on clinical experience.
Congrats on going back for your BSN! I'm going to get mine as soon as I complete the ASN program.
I have a BUNCH of courses my first semester...
1. Fundamentals of Nursing M & W 12:00-2:45 (for the first 8 weeks only).
2. Nursing Lab Tues or Thurs from 8:00-1:45.
3. Med-Surg I M & W 12:00-2:45 (second 8 weeks).
4. Med-Surg Clinical Tues or Thurs from 6-6 (starting in October).
5. Pharmacology M (or W, I can't remember) 8:00-10:45
I think it's a total of 14 credit hours and they're all nursing courses. Definitely glad I got almost all of my co-reqs out of the way before starting the program.
Starting BSN this fall. Classes are long cuz we only have each once a week...no MWF, for example.
M Health assessment 9-1130 then Fundamentals 1-3
T Physiological Pharmacology 8:30-11:30 then the lab 1-4
W Nursing Research 9-12 then Professional Role of the Nurse 1-4
Th Clinical days starting end of Oct /early Nov
F Health assessment lab 9-11 and Fundamentals lab 12-2
PACKED! wow.
Lololol, this post reminds me of a conversation I had with my hairdresser when I was in school.
I was in an Accelerated BSN program where we worked all spring semester, summer semester, and fall semester. I had a full six days of 'vacation' between my spring semester finals and the start of my summer classes.
My hairdresser goes, "Hope you enjoy your six weeks off!"
[snorts] "Hah, yeah, no. Six days."
Oh, nursing school.....

I start back during the same week!😄
I'll be taking mental health and med-surg, I think!!
My schedule appears reasonable. 1 day of lecture and 2 dys clinical. We'll see though!!
I'm looking forward to learning iv push meds-new to me!!
I expect the term to be a whirlwind!! I'll be surprised if it's reasonable!!!

Six days...gosh! The accelerated programs sound so intense!
I start my first year in a BScN program on the August 28th and I couldn't be more excited! We finally got some information packages from the school so I'm still living in that floaty, happy place. The nerves haven't quite set in yet, but I'm sure they will when I start getting my syllabuses!
I haven't gotten my course schedule yet but I'm pretty sure it's 2 classes monday, 1 class tuesday, 2 on wednesday, 1 on thursday and 2 on friday. In our curriculum everything is split up a bit weirdly so instead of just like, fundamentals and lab we have a bunch of individual courses like "professional practice" and "relational practice". A bit different, but I'm sure it's workable!
I'm most excited to meet everyone in my courses! Well, and of course to start working towards my goals and everything. So far I know 3 of the girls I'll be going to school with: I work with one, I'm friends with the sister of one, and one is a waitress I know. I just can't wait to see who I'm going to be (hopefully) spending the next 4 years with!
My program starts August 20th, we have a full day of orientation and take our math test that day. I am excited about starting school but, stressing out that I will be moving during the first few weeks of classes. The most stressful thing about the move is that I don't know exactly when it is going to be happening, along with the fact that it keeps getting pushed further back. I was planning/hoping that I would be moving just before classes started. Unfortunately it is not going to happen as soon as I would like.
The first semester we have one class fundamentals although it is 9 credits and even more billing credits. Our program also offers some workshops that I am going to take, partly in hopes that they will help me prepare and also to get me to full time status so I get my full financial aid. I will also be taking a beginning yoga class (needed a one credit hour class and figured that it would be low stress and might even be beneficial in learning some ways to help reduce stress). I will be at school Monday through Friday until the end of September and than starting in October will have Tuesdays off. Definitely planning on enjoying these next couple of weeks as much as I can when I am not at work.
My ADN program starts August 17th. Orientation on the 12th. I'm excited and nervous for this journey. Its a dream of mine to become a nurse practitioner and I'm on my way! :) its an amazing feeling to have worked this hard so far, and finally be rewarded for the sacrifices I have made for my education.
I'm taking NSG 101, BIO 139 and PSY 223(online) this fall. It is going to be stressful, fortunately I'm able to take off work during the RN program, I just hope the time off helps my grades since I'll have more study time! Hopefully that'll compensate for the tight budget! 😖
Good luck to everybody either continuing their program this semester or just starting off! We're all hard workers! And I'm proud to be surrounded by so many dedicated people! Its inspiration for staying straight and putting all my focus on my grades. Its amazing to be a part of a group of people that have spent so much time and worked so hard to get where we all are today! ðŸ‘

I like the idea of a yoga class during nursing school! What a great way to relax during such stressful times!

I'm having to work full time during school as well. Wish I had another alternative but I do not.
As for the books, I definitely am buying mine online elsewhere. I did the math and I am saving around $350ish by not buying through the bookstore. Huge rip-off for some of those books.
Congrats on getting married!!!
