this website....

I would just like to say that I've noticed a lot of 'snotty' 'sarcastic' comments to a lot of the posts on the site. Is that really necessary?? This is supposed to be a supportive, informative place, not a cynical, negative place.

You may not always like the answers you receive when you ask a question or post a debatable topic, but you can always count on honest and sincere responses. I love this board and am thankful for its existance. The information found here is invaluable.

that's the point....the rude comments I'm referring to ARE NOT about something debatable, or controversial....it's in response to genuine questions that someone may have, replied to by a sarcastic comment. Everyone is reading way to much into this

It sounds like you object to a few/several specific posts ... and you are entitled to report those posts to the moderators and express your concern.

Your original post which began this thread (under the title, "this website") is worded in such a way that conveys a dislike of "a lot" of comments to "a lot" of posts on the website itself.

Here's hoping you have the ability to sort the good from the bad, here at allnurses.com and in all other areas of life.

What was your point in posting this then? Just curious? You say people are reading too much into it- but by reading your comment it sounds like a lot of drama to me... So maybe you shouldn't say "this site"- if it really isn't a problem. I belong to a few other forums- Solo-ops ,armywivesforums- and there is drama- but I chose what I say and what I post. You can't control anyones responses but your own.... So if its not big deal- then I wouldn't write a post about it to begin with... Not trying to be rude- just stating a fact.

Thanks,

Audrey

Honestly I really love this site, my only pet peeve is people posting questions that if they would just use the search button most of their questions would be answered.

That's a good thing about bumping old threads...you never know what gold mine you're gonna strike!:D

As to sarcasm and being just plain ugly, I figure they are trolls looking for a fight. I think the best response is to ignore that post and press the bad post triangle. Your question will usually be answered again shortly, and most likely without the meanness--this is a busy place!

I love allnurses, and it's so interesting to read what people are saying. I learn a lot from all the nurses here; I love the humor and like to see what is going on with the students and new nurses as well. :p

I wish they would ban the word NCLEX.

I love this site and feel it is invaluable. I am seriously considering getting back into nursing after about a 6 year break. I read this board quite often, especially from work and I feel that I could go right back into a hospital setting and be competent in spite of being out of it for these years.

I think people can just become really passionate about what they are arguing. Try not to take anything personal, I disagree with a lot here but still enjoy reading their posts.

I feel this is a very tame site, especially when I compare it to other forums that I participate in.

I feel most problems occur when individuals refuse to be realistic and understand that not everyone is going to have the same OPINION.

Some people just don't get it.

I seem to be a Nurse with opinions that are in the minority (on this site anyway). I have learned that it is better for me to not post on certain threads/topics at all because some people become extremely defensive and argumentative over the differences in opinions. I can't be bothered fighting and continually having to defend my opinion.

......or people become "offended" because I have disagreed with them and now expect an apology.

"I'm sorry for having an opinion that is different from yours", won't cut it. They usually want, "I am sorry I offended you. Your opinion and view is right. My opinion and view is wrong. Again, I am so sorry".

Personally, I love reading differences in opinions (when they are debated in a mature manner). I feel that it makes me a smarter and more interesting person. It exposes me to points of views that I may have not have ever considered.

Honestly, nothing is more boring than everyone always agreeing with everything.......unless they agree with me :clown: (just kidding)

I agree with you. I found that it is going on with most forum, not only this one. I have a website that i go to for local residence in my area. People get on that forum and start attacking others. It is amazing what people can do when you don't have to show your face in a forum.

I couldn't agree more, I think we can agree to disagree at times. Debating can get a little fiesty at times :smiley_ab (which keeps things interesting IMO), but I think we all pretty much respect each others' opinion ( I would hope), we are human, with lots of opinions and emotions to express ;and with almost 300K members, the VAST majority being women,(that's a lot of emotions --not to mention hormones:chuckle ) I think things go pretty smooth

I think when reading things on the internet it is not always possible to discern a person's tone. Without knowing that person or where they are from, etc etc. Things get misinterpreted all the time. I know because I am a New Yorker who moved to the South!!!!! :-)
