How often do you wash your scrubs? And when is the last time you bought a pair of new ones? Come on in fellas, I know you can hear me.
I own so many scrubs it is shameful. I do laundry about once a month and I work full time (3 days/week). So you can imagine how many scrub sets I have.
12?
I'm not even a nurse...I wear scrubs to school and pretend to do dirty work on manikins and I STILL wash after every wear. Not immediately, but as soon as my kids start complaining that they can't find any clean underwear.
You know what grosses me out...when All the hospital people about the city, get off of their shift, park their scrub wearin azzes in a chair at the hot new restaurant and start grubbing on nachos and cocktails. CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES.
Funny how obvious it is that these garments are gross and must be washed after every wear, buuuuuut not necessarily before we go out galavanting with the general public...you know....getting stamps at the post office...meeting buddies for a snack...pickin up some milk at the store.

Okay.
I totally agree, Leo!
Ewww!
I work on the geri unit in a psych facility... it's like a mini nursing home.
Uniforms are not required, however, due to the fact that we have daily contact with stool, urine, c-diff, MRSA, VRE, spit, blood and whatever the heck else, we (the geri staff) typically wear scrubs.
We wear what we can toss in hot water and bleach!
So much for psych being a "clean" and "easy" job...
But... here's what's gross...
Some staff wear their street clothes (yuck) and some staff just don't seem to grasp the concept of microorganisms!
What I'm getting at is that I'm sure-- or rather, I know-- some of these non-scrub wearin', c-diff dipped, MRSA-mucked and pee polished people are sitting in a Chili's somewhere after work.
You just don't know what they've been into because they are not wearing scrubs!
It's sickening!

I do this but more often than not it's because my shift got cancelled at the last minute and I'm too lazy to change but those are virgin scrubs.

A) Not everyone wearing scrubs is involved in direct patient care. On the flip side, there are some people involved in patient care who wear street clothes. (Hello, Dr's tie in MRSA wound!)
B) Some people, not involved in the health field in any capacity, wear scrubs for comfort. Scrubs are the new sweats for some people.
C) It's possible that some of those people eating at a restaurant are doing so before their shift.
You know what they say about assuming, right?

Wash after each wear. Wearing the scrubs you wore yesterday is really gross!
I was them in HOT water with only other scrubs, never with other clothes!
