do you wash your hair every day?

Published

So this is a bit personal, but do you wash your hair every day after work? I can't help feeling like I have bacteria in my hair when I've been at the hospital, even though I avoid touching it. My hair is dry though and I dislike washing it every day.

I have to wash my hair everyday or it gets so greasy that it looks like I have not washed it in a week. I am jealous of these people who can get away with washing it less often.

I bet if you stopped washing you would find that this stops being an issue. If you have very oily hair it may take a solid week or 2 of not shampooing to get your body to adjust. When you strip oils...your body makes more oil....

I actually wash my face with oil...my skin is much softer and more moisturizing and less oily.

You can't strip without your body reacting...and some people will have a body that overreacts. Break the cycle, which is hard to do, and it will eventually even out!

This is called 'co-washing,' and it is becoming a rapidly-growing trend. Conditioner is better for many peoples' grades of hair than shampoo.

Most shampoos on the market today contain sodium laurel sulfate, a culprit that causes many peoples' hair to become overly dry, brittle, flyaway and fall out.

Oh yes...know the term. I've been doing this for years now. I'm so glad more are jumping on board with it. It's so much healthier for your hair and scalp!

I started using Nizoral a couple of months ago because I read that it helps fight hair thinning. My mom and sister swear that I don't have thinning hair and I'm just being paranoid, but I'm not so sure. It has a nice smell anyway, and though I've never had dandruff I guess I won't now. Then I use this spray leave-in conditioner called It's a 10- it smells wonderful like honeysuckle.

I'm quite concerned with thin hair- I have very fine silky Caucasian hair that does not look thick no matter what I do. The problem is that it's dark and when a person has dark hair it's normally thick, but mine is like blonde people's hair (everyone in my family is blonde except me) except it's the wrong color. And if I wash it too much, it goes from shiny to frazzled.

Absolutely. I tend to turn into a grease ball about 18 hours after last washing my hair. I've tried going longer in between washing, but it just looks positively disgusting and has a bit of a funky smell. Plus, it's part of my bedtime routine.

I wash my hair every day- but I have done it for the last 50 years, so......

I wash nearly every day with a natural tea tree shampoo- I only condition my ends every few days or if I've been rough on it- lots of outside time in the wind, working out, pool time. Once I figured out I could condition as needed, my ends have stayed really nice, especially since I air dry.

I always wondered for people who do this, does it make their hair greasy at all? I use a normal amount of shampoo and kinda too much conditioner so my hair is not dry. However, I do notice my ends are brittle a lot if I don't style it... So I do wonder if I stopped using shampoo if my ends would not be brittle but then I worry about my hair being greasy.

I have naturally curly hair that tends to be dry. I use conditioner instead of shampoo much of the time and never have had a greasy problem. Helps my hair not be so frizzy too. I wash or condition every day I work because it would look awful if I didn't. Then I apply something for the frizzies. Never have worried about "cooties" in my hair.

After all this I can't help but wonder, what about people with dandruff? I hate to admit it, but I have it pretty bad. If I don't use head and shoulders or something like that it gets bad, so I wash at least every other day. My hair is thick, coorifice, curly, and frizzy too

My scalp is much healthier using just conditioner.... I used to have pretty horrid dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, but it has virtually disappeared since I got away from the sulfate shampoos.

I wash every day if I'm working.....all kinds of things fly around at a delivery. When not working I wash maybe q2-3 days; too dry otherwise.

I haven't washed every day for years. My hair just dries out and frizzes or get's horrible static if I do. I have shoulder length wavy hair, very wash and wear friendly. I just spritz it down with a light conditioning/styling spray before work and let it air dry and wash 2 or 3 times a week, depends on how much build up the daily spritz is causing. I also color my hair and this seems to keep the color from fading so fast as well.

Nope. It's not good for my hair. I will wash it every 3-4 days. The day before I do wash it, however, I simply call a bad hair day and use a thick headband to cover up the worse of the greasies.

I do, but I also have a little one who sleeps with me (I'm sure that will upset some people, not changing what we do) and I since he sleeps with his head on a pillow next to mine I want clean hair. When he transitions to his bed (hopefully soon), I probably won't if i work the next day.
