Hi! I work in Ospital Ning Angeles in Angeles City. If you guys would like to have certificates and work as a volunteer, you can apply here they will give you certificate provided that you work for them for a minimum of 3 months. You will work there just like a full time worker without pay or apply there and youll get paid but the salary is 6k only.(tax exempted)) the work, well of course, expect to have a maximum of 18 patients if you will be assigned in charity and 10 patients in private ward. The load is basically the same because the significant others in private ward will actually make you feel that they are your extra patients as well(hehehe). the schedule: 12hours a day. 2 consecutive working days then two consecutive off duty days. then after 4 am shift they will rotate you to 4pm shift. EX:
day 1&2:7am-7pm; day3&4:off; day5&6:7am-7pm; day7&8:off; day9&10:7pm-7am; day11&12:off; day13&14:7pm-7am; day15&16:off
then repeat the sched. you will actually gain the skills that you need there.
hope you join us, as a volunteer, do not worry, they will not let you handle a maximum of 18 patients, there will always be a nurse next to you, you will assist each other. hope this helps!

Getting experience like this will not help you in any way in the US, and will not help on your resume either, at least with reputable facilities.

I think you have at least confidence in bringing out nursing duties with just a minimum of experience for three months. Just test your nursing skills. Sound challenging enough. Working without pay. I already done with my volunteering. This is probably the best free service you can give to the people before you go to abroad and elsewhere. Volunteering work is the essence of true service of a nurse. Good work janel.rn.

I am a new nurse, graduated in 2006 and a passer of the Philippine nursing licensure exam June 2006 and the NCLEX-RN in May 2007. I am in USA right now..June 2007. I have tried to apply thru the agencies here in US. But I've hesitated to push thru my application because when it comes to the experiences in the hospital, I am inadequate. My only experience as a nurse are my nursing student's experiences. DO I, an inexperienced nurse, HAVE THE CHANCES TO BE HIRED IN US hospital? or do I have to go back home to the Philippines to get hospital experiences and also to RETAKE THE PHIL. Licensing exam (because of CGFNS' banning of our batch). Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

I urge you to pay attention to Suzanne! The work you perform will not help you at all in the USA, hospitals there will train new nurses to their standards!
In my opinion, these "offers" to get new grads to work for free only enriches the for profit hospitals who get them to work for free. These same hospitals will post a guard at a patients room until they pay their bills in full. Will they deduct the "free" nursing care they get from the patients bills? I doubt it highly.
My suggestion would be to find a true charitable medical mission and volunteer for work through them. They visit the provinces and provide free health care to needy poor people in the Philippines.
I applaud those new nurses who wish to gain experience and confidence, but I deplore the practice of taking advantage of these fine young nurses and make them work for free while charging the patients fees for the free labor they get. Try to find a true "charity" medical program to volunteer your hard earned skills and education.
In my humble opinion, of course

To answer your question, YES YOU DO HAVE A CHANCE. Ma'am Suzanne always points out that experience in your home country is not needed to be hired.
Do you have an immigrant visa already? Or are you a US citizen? Retake of the June NLE 2006 is only required for VS(Visascreen), that is, if you still need it(might not be in your case if you have the immigrant visa).
However, if you are still up to it(you are willing to spend time, effort and money), you can at your option retake the the June 2006 exam in part or retake the entire NLE test. Check with the employer if they still need to see proof of either, otherwise, there is no need of it. God bless!

gumamela, if you are a legal immigrant, you shouldn't have to worry about applying for a job. since you are in california, there are many places you can apply to. many new grads like you and me do not need a work experience from pi since it will not be acceptable in the us, you will still be considered as new grad even if you have 100 years experience in pi. all you need is your legal paperworks saying you are allowed to work here legally, you do not need an agency, unless if you are on tourist visa, which is a no no. anyways, goodluck.
