I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!
How about introductions and a little info about each person?
I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!
I'm not sure but I don't think they let you do that. I think that once you start the LPN program, you can't apply to 'start over' in the RN program the next term. However, you might be able to move into the RN program during the first two terms if spots open up due to people dropping out. Also, I think on the day of orientation for RN, if slots open up or people don't show up, they offer them to the next on the list from the RN waiting list.
thanks everybody for your replies on tech writing and micro. i heard not so good things about my prof. so here's to hoping anyway. i am also taking intro to interpersonal communication online this summer. anyone else? or has anyone taken it yet?
now i am just trying to stay busy so that i don'T think about that letter!
I took interpersonal comm. this past semester. Easy. There were five papers: three on various movies, one on an 'intercultural communication experience' where you were supposed to go out and interact with a different culture (and I just wrote a paper on attending a Catholic church since I'm not Catholic), and one last paper about topics in the book. Stay away from the S. Bend campus though. The prof I had from there was terrible.
ahcgirl,
I took technical writing online last semester and microbiology at the fort wayne campus, and I agree with the others that they were both really easy. Microbiology was really interesting and it wasn't very hard to learn. I am taking interpersonal communications this summer online through south bend along with chem 101. I have applied for the RN program in Fort Wayne for the Fall and I am anxiously awaiting my packet with everyone else. Maybe we will be in some classes together this fall.
Does anyone know what we can expect when we get the packet? How long until we can sign up for classes? Can we sign up for classes online ourselves or do we have to do it with an advisor? Should we already be looking into CPR classes? I am getting really excited, but I really want to get signed up for some classes because I don't even have a financial aid award because without signing up for classes, it doesn't appear like I will be attending. Anyone else having this problem?

I wondered about that same thing. I read in the nursing packet that the physical exam is required prior to enrollment. It also states that record of immunization status is required as well but it doesn't state immunization is required prior to enrollment like the physical exam does. This was in the nursing packet handed out in Evansville Ivy Tech.
xandersmama, if you have the same prof I had from S. Bend for interpersonal comm, don't expect anything from him. He does not participate in discussion boards at all, gives conflicting and erroneous information when you ask him to clarify discrepant due dates and assignments, and did not appear to even really read our papers because I talked with another girl who said she 'tested' it by writing a bunch of nonsense words in one of her papers and she got full credit anyway. I guess in one sense that makes it 'good' because it is easy to get an A, but it bugged me because I don't like to think about people getting paid to do a job that they really don't do at all.

I've had a lot of the same questions. I've been looking into CPR classes and everything, but been wary of signing up if it isn't the "right" one. Does the CPR/BLS for providers class offered by the Red Cross work?
As far as financial aid and registering, I'm getting a loan through our credit union, but I was told I can't do anything until I'm officially registered for classes, but that once I register, it should take less than a week to get the loan disbursment, but I'm not sure how grants and things like that work.

I feel like I'm becoming obsessed with this message board....I am checking it like every 30 minutes now waiting for someone to say they got a letter! I have the site up all day at work and just keep refreshing the page. Does anyone know any numbers regarding how many people usually get pulled from LPN to RN and if they are pulled from the scores that got us accepted in the first place, or for our grades in the LPN program?!?!
