Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

Hey, Justamomof5

Did your acceptance letter come in a big 8x11 envelope or a regular size? Does it have all the info about orientation, physical, uniforms, ect. ?

My acceptance letter was in a regular business envelope (#10). Inside was the acceptance letter and an addressed stamped return envelope.

I'm glad you said that...If mine came in a regular envelope, I probably would have just cried an not have opened it! Now I know to check either way! Congrats by the way! :)

I just received my acceptance letter to Greencastle. Wooohooo!

Congratulations on the great news!!! :yeah::yeah:

I feel like I'm becoming obsessed with this message board....I am checking it like every 30 minutes now waiting for someone to say they got a letter! I have the site up all day at work and just keep refreshing the page/quote]

LOL teboz, I know what you mean. Judging from the frequent activity in this thread and the fact that most of us are stalking our mailpeople, I think you're in good company :)

I took interpersonal comm. this past semester. Easy. There were five papers: three on various movies, one on an 'intercultural communication experience' where you were supposed to go out and interact with a different culture (and I just wrote a paper on attending a Catholic church since I'm not Catholic), and one last paper about topics in the book. Stay away from the S. Bend campus though. The prof I had from there was terrible.

I agree with csab about this course. Our assignments were the same. I took it online last summer through Columbus. The papers were all very short, I don't think I wrote anything longer than 3-4 pages. The discussion boards are incredibly simple. It's a course I would recommend to anyone new to online courses-- very good, easy class to try out the online format.

Does anyone know what we can expect when we get the packet? How long until we can sign up for classes? Can we sign up for classes online ourselves or do we have to do it with an advisor? Should we already be looking into CPR classes? I am getting really excited, but I really want to get signed up for some classes because I don't even have a financial aid award because without signing up for classes, it doesn't appear like I will be attending. Anyone else having this problem?

I have some of the same questions. From what I've gathered from the info sessions/an boards/general blather, registration is done by the nursing programs at orientation or before. I'm pretty sure they put you where they want to put you and you don't get much say (re: Lawrence campus). I am taking CPR next week through the AHA. I don't know when we have to have them completed if accepted, but I was trying to keep busy and get some things lined up before summer classes began. I wonder the same thing as you about financial aid-- I assume they will review our accounts after we are registered? I will probably wait until I find out if I'm in or not and then attempt to find someone in FA that knows what they are doing :) Haha

I've had a lot of the same questions. I've been looking into CPR classes and everything, but been wary of signing up if it isn't the "right" one. Does the CPR/BLS for providers class offered by the Red Cross work?

I registered for the CPR/BLS for providers class through AHA. I think it just has cover both CPR and AED and state that it is for healthcare providers. That is what I gathered through looking at last year's accepted students' posts.

I just received my acceptance letter to Greencastle. Wooohooo!

:ancong!:

Congratulations!!!!!

Congrats! OMG! so greencastles are out! come on Fort Wayne!

for those of you who got your letters today... what was your total score?
