How's the job hunt going?
I've definitely been looking outside of acute care... clinics, long-term care, etc. I had an interview today with a long-term care facility and i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

How often do your guys need to renew your RN/LPN license?
I believe it is every year and it expires on your birthday.

How's the job hunt going?
Hey everyone, I know it's rough out there, but how is everyone's job hunt going? I passed boards and I've only been applying to jobs for about a week, but it's definitely a bit discouraging to see "New grads not being considered at this time." I'm trying to keep positive and apply to every position that is either accepting new grads or does not specify an experience requirement. I'm new to the area so I don't have much ability to network, which I know is a big component to the job search. I have followed up on a few applications and left voicemails for some nurse recruiters, but I haven't received any return phone calls yet. I guess I'm just looking to share stories with some others in my situation, since like I said, I'm new here and don't know anyone. Victoria

nclex RN exam/ATT
I got my ATT today and scheduled my NCLEX. My test date is February 2nd! I'm ready to get it over with, but having the official date definitely made me more nervous!

nclex RN exam/ATT
I mailed all my stuff in mid-December. I know my school did not send in my completion form until a week and a half ago though because they were waiting for degree audits. My husband is a software developer and got recruited by a company out here, which we're happy about because we love it here! Are you near Fort Lewis then? I hear the hospital on base there is a good option for finding a job. I should probably study more, but I feel ready to take it, and I just want to get it over with!

nclex RN exam/ATT
I don't have any helpful information for you, but I just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat! I graduated in Indiana December 2010 and moved to Washington immediately afterward. I am still waiting for my ATT too, even though all my fellow IN graduates have received theirs. Victoria

Does "your" instead of "you're" drive anyone else nuts?
Your/You're bugs me, but not nearly as much as lose and loose. I'm not sure what it is about that, but it drives me nuts!

Question about the TEAS
It's hard to gauge, because the science has the fewest number of questions, but it's such a vast array of information. So it's kind of a crapshoot of what they will ask you. I do recall that on my test, anytime the question required the periodic table, they provided it, so you do not need to actually memorize the table. Just know how the different elements would interact, and what the numbers on the element blocks mean.

Anyone volunteer at a hospital?
I'm volunteering in the NICU at our local hospital, helping the nurses at the desk, transfering calls, and monitoring visitors. I've been getting all my medical info, vaccines, and my TB tests set up and I officially start next week! Unfortunately the hospital does not allow volunteers to do any patient care, but the coodinators are very supportive of me pursuing nursing and have been really great answering all my questions. Also, I figured any experience in the hospital setting will be beneficial to me. I'm looking forward to getting started!

Ivy Tech TEAS and APHY 201 ?
I didn't come across any problems like that, although I had my husband teach me the formula for solving them just in case. The majority of the math I had was: ratios & proportions, percentages, and then "simple" math like 276,895 minus 45,321 and stuff like that. Good Luck!!

Ivy Tech TEAS and APHY 201 ?
Nope, I'm not! With this score, my points are at 205, which I'm thinking/hoping will be good enough for the traditional ASN program here! :)

Ivy Tech TEAS and APHY 201 ?
I'm applying to the Fort Wayne campus. I was told they do round the decimals.

teas nursing pre-entrance exam
I just took the TEAS this morning and did well. If you have the money, I would suggest paying the $30 to take the online practice test. I basically took a practice test without studying, to see where I needed the most improvement, then I really focused on those areas. I thought the study guide was comparable to the test, which the exception of science. The book did not cover much of that, so I used the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam book, which I found helpful. The math, reading and English were all covered well though. You can do it!
