  1. The best advice I can give is give an example for every answer. "Why do you want to be a nurse?" Don't just say you like taking care of people.....give an example. If you don't have any work experience, then say something like "I really enjoy taking care of people, but during my clinical rotation I had a patient that _________, and I was able to make them more comfortable by ____________. And I felt _________, and knew that I had made the right choice." A lot of interviews are behavioral type questions, they want to know how you are going to react, but also want and example to see if you can verbally demonstrate what you say you would do. For example, I have been asked, "When you are clocking in for your shift, you overhear another nurse taking someone for clocking her in when she was running late. You know that this is against company policy, what do you do?" From my experience, employers want to hear that you are comfortable confronting coworkers in a constructive manner. So something like, "I would first approach the nurse and let her know that the policy forbids others from clocking someone else in, and that she could face more trouble than being late in the first place. That I would do this first assuming she doesn't realize the policy and implications of breaking the rules. Then I said if I noticed that the issue continued, I would report it to the supervisor. Hope this helps, here are a few other questions I have recently been asked: 1. You have 3 patients, one is really needy, but you have to give meds and a treatment due now for your other patients, what do you do? Employer was looking for Providing immediate safety, and giving the patient a time frame when you would return "I will be back in 45 min..." and following through. 2. Have you ever been asked to do something that you didn't consider part of your job description? Give an example and how you handled it." Employer is looking for you to say how you worked through it in a positive manner. Make sure it is in your scope of practice.
  2. I took my exam on Sat the 18th, tried the PVT 10 mins after I left (already said delivery successful) got the good popup and a million more times checking it the rest of the day and Sunday...and on Monday paid the quick results and I passed! PVT worked for me!
  3. I paid for my quick results yesterday and I passed! PVT works!
  4. Su32, have any news yet? I paid for my quick results yesterday, and it said I passed! PVT worked! Still praying for your results...:bowingpur
  5. Just got back to Indiana after testing in OH this morning...and I got the good popup! But I still feel horrible, not sure if I can trust it....and so more waiting begins!
  6. Su32, we can pray for each other! I took my test this morning @ 8am! I answered 75 questions...13-15 SATA, followed by a lot of priority, delegation, and meds...no dos calc! I am freaking out! I did the PVT and got the "exam already scheduled...contact SBN...can't reschedule" popup, which I guess is supposed to mean I passed....but I started researching the testimonials and all I can find is that some people had false fails by getting the cc page, but couldn't find anyone stating that they got the good popup and failed??? I feel somewhat better...as in I don't feel consistently like I'm going to vomit, just occasionally! I know of at least one question that I messed up on...But what I really want to know is when can we pay for our quick results? It says to business days, so does that mean Tuesday? Or because Monday is President's day do we have to wait til Wed? Please let me know if you find anything out!
  7. I take my exam tomorrow, Saturday....will the pearson vue trick work over the weekend? And the quick results say 2 business days so do I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday? or is it just 48 hrs? So Monday? The Indiana State Board of Nursing has been kinda screwy....Two of my class mates to the exam at the same test center at the same time but a day apart.....one had her license posted less than 24 hours....and the other had to wait 2 weeks!!??? I feel like I can do this, but I am extremely nervous.....had 8 weeks to study waiting for my ATT!
  8. Everyone I have spoken with who has passed said they had tons of SATA.....and those who didn't...didn't......so I think you are fine!
  9. Hi! I take the NCLEX on Feb. 18th! I'm starting to freak out....I have been studying with saunders q&a 4th ed and ATI...Not sure how to gauge how well I am doing though?? Took an ATI predictor in Dec. and got a 90% chance of passing....not how can I use saunders to see if I'm improving?
  10. I am going to call daily starting now....but since its friday I will wait for next week...MONDAY When I called this morning I was nice, but I let the frustration leak out around my politeness....I told her it was just so upsetting that some people from my graduating class applied after me and had theirs almost immediately. In fact there are 9 people who are already licensed! She was either acting or truly sympathetic, and I'm hoping that since she released my case workers name that she mentioned it to her....In Indiana the phones are only open from 8-12 daily, so they can focus solely on processing paperwork from 12-4.....maybe I will get something today, praying, wishing, hoping!
  11. 6 Weeks and counting...no ATT...Thats all I can say to remain professional!
  12. 6 Weeks of waiting now...only progress I have made it that I now have the name of the person that holds my life in her hands! "Call back next week", they said....you better believe I'm going to! But I just want to SCREAM at them....so far I have been nice, but its getting hard! Good Luck to all of you that are waiting...
  13. I have already verified that the BON has everything as of Dec. 22nd....they said they are just processing in the order in which they were received, but thats only true that the case worker is completing them as each individual receives them....One of my friends submitted hers 2 weeks after mine and has her ATT already....cursed with a slow case worker!
  14. I have been waiting for 5 weeks now to receive my ATT for the RN NCLEX....I have called the Indiana State Board of Nursing, and they have had many different excuses.... "We have 7 weeks to process, we are still processing November's, and each case worker processes at different paces"......But I'm starting to really stress about this. When I graduated with my PN in 2010 I submitted everything on the 10th of August, and took the NCLEX on the 30th! And there isn't supposed to be the amount of applicants in December! In my graduating class there was about 20 RN's, and the most frustrating part is that there are two that have already received their ATT's, took their boards, and are licensed for two weeks now and I turned in my paperwork before they did! Pearson vue said I would have it in 4 weeks and to call if I didn't have it by then, but when I called they said ok so call the State Board....and then I get the run around. I just need to test, is there ANYTHING else I can do?
