Thanks for your responses! Western Wyoming...starting $13.00 and $2 for nights and $2 for weekends. From what I see so far, we are paid on the average what is paid around the country.
A year or so ago starting wage went from $10 to $13. We were very short staffed, no one was applying. Now we have many that apply and take the class, but they don't seem to stay. We also have a sign on bonus, $500 after six months and another $500 after a year. You have to be in compliance with attendance and trainings etc. It was only $600 when I started. Does anyone else have similar incentives?
I just started a month ago at a nursing home...
$9.25/hour before promissor certification day shift
$10.25/hour after promissor certification day shift
$1.00/hour extra for pm shift and $1.50/hour for noc shift added to the day shift pay... weekends are no different.
after probation your pay increases on each of those wages by $0.25/hour and if you get a lead position that is another $0.50/hour.
I know, very confusing! So, now that I am certified, working the pm shift and becoming a lead CNA on the floor, I am going to be making $11.75, but because I am not off of the probation period, I will not see the $12.00 mark until August.
As for benefits, they suck!! Thank goodness my husband has health insurance!
Western Pa seems a little lower, as far as I know so far... seems like most nursing homes pay $7-8 while you are training, after you become "certified" it's around $8.5-9.5, plus shift differential which often seems to be 50 cents to a dollar. Of course, cost of living is supposed to be lower here - but these gas prices!!!!

:nuke:I was wondering what CNAs in other parts of the country make.
The hospital I work for is starting this year's evaluation process. It is yet again a new process. I was told that they will be researching the wages of several positions to see how they compare. We may see some pay increases depending on what is found. I thought I would do some of my own research, just to see what I could find out. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
