MSNBC is not painting a very pretty picture for New Orleans and surrounding areas as Katrina approaches. Please stay safe! I know many of you will be working and worrying about your families, friends, etc. Just letting you know I am thinking of you and wish you all well!

Thank you all very much. I can't imagine what my home will look like whenever we are able to go back. We evacuated to Houston, so we are safe, but I'm still so worried about missing these days of school and what I'll be going home to. It does make me feel better to know that others are praying for us. Thank You All.

Good luck, you are in my prayers. We went thru Charlie. My three grandchildren missed two and half weeks of school. And spent the remainder of the year in double sessions.. My community is still recoverying. You will make it thru this. Keep the faith. Remember better days will co,e.

msjoseph,

do you think there will be a school to go back to? I attend a university in New Orleans and am wondering when, and if classes will resume this semester. I guess it is just a wait and see situation.

I am thinking of all of my friends who choose to stay in New Orleans and "ride the storm out" in addition to those who were required to stay and work. I am terrified for them.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone in the gulf region.

It's not bad in Baton Rouge, just lots of wind and steady rain. You should see all the limbs in my yard. But I am worried about New Orleans. I heard that there is the first breach in the levee, at Tennessee St.

Uh oh, something just fell on my roof....sounded like a big limb. Better go check....

Yikes!

I am terrified for New Orleans. Heard the superdome has 4 holes in roof. Water is 6-10 feet in the quarter (depending which news station you listen to). The water is not from the rain but from the sewage backing up.

I am unable to get through to any of my friends who stayed.

My heart breaks for so many people. I just can't fathom the tragedy they must deal with. The exhaustion the nurses must face daily dealing with a overwhelming number of injured while worrying about their own families.

I am crying for those poor folks stuck in the hurricane's path, with no means of evacuating. I find it odd we could spend beaucoup $$$ evacuating critters, but the people had to get out on their own or tough luck. ???

I know many were afraid to leave because of looting...they stayed to protect their property. :(

I cried so hard when the husband had to let go of his wife to save his kids...she called out' You can't keep holding me. Just take care of the kids and grandkids. I love you" and he watched her swept away. Just heartbreaking to hear these stories.

Everybody make their donations now...to Red Cross, etc...who will be helping them pick up the pieces.
