THinking of you... Please stay safe! Hurricane Katrina

MSNBC is not painting a very pretty picture for New Orleans and surrounding areas as Katrina approaches. Please stay safe! I know many of you will be working and worrying about your families, friends, etc. Just letting you know I am thinking of you and wish you all well!

God Bless all of you!!! I wish I could do more;give more money or something. Thank the good Lord that the Houston Astrodome cleared it's schedual for some of the people left homeless. This is a time when we should all pull together!!!!

If I could I would gladly give my time to help. I feel so bad for these people. This just breaks my heart and I heard this morning it could be Christmas before people can go back home. It is bad enough to lose everything but all those little children at christmas time. I dont know I just want to do something more...

My heart breaks for so many people. I just can't fathom the tragedy they must deal with. The exhaustion the nurses must face daily dealing with a overwhelming number of injured while worrying about their own families.
I am crying for those poor folks stuck in the hurricane's path, with no means of evacuating. I find it odd we could spend beaucoup $$$ evacuating critters, but the people had to get out on their own or tough luck. ???

I know many were afraid to leave because of looting...they stayed to protect their property. :(

I cried so hard when the husband had to let go of his wife to save his kids...she called out' You can't keep holding me. Just take care of the kids and grandkids. I love you" and he watched her swept away. Just heartbreaking to hear these stories.

Everybody make their donations now...to Red Cross, etc...who will be helping them pick up the pieces.

:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: It made me want to hug DH just a little bit harder. I would not want to have to make that choice...and then have to be strong for the children's sake.

Our prayers are with you. Please stay strong. Help is on the way.

I am happy (but a little frightened) to say that I know help is on the way because my husband's unit is (finally) on the way. They were prepared to leave a few days ago and were just waiting for the call, when they finally got it they were wheels up in 5 hours and headed your way. I am scared of what they are going into but proud that the active duty forces are finally getting to help. Please believe (for all those who have listened to some of the angry outcries wondering why our active duty military forces have not been scrambled for this disaster) that it was not the fault of the actual soldiers on the ground. If it were up to them, they would have been there within hours instead of days. We have agonized over this for days knowing that so many active duty units, my husband's included, have the resources and capability to help so many, and not getting the permission to go there and participate in the relief effort. My prayers and thoughts are with you!

As you wonder, the rest of the world is wondering why the government is not rushing to send help there. I heard 60 countries proposed their help, even Fidel Castro proposed to send doctors! We all worry for all that people, having nothing left and so for months now, and I really hope they will obtain quickly the help they need for their health and safety. Thank you to people like your husband and you to feel so involved in their duty.

Thinking of you all and in our prayers , all you who have been affected by Katrina. London is praying and thing of you.

Thanks to everyone for all their prayers. I live about 15 minutes from new orleans and I road out the storm in my house. I was very lucky and blessed that nothing happend to me or my family. Our house was not destroyed only our fence was knocked down. My school is in the city and it is under water. they are trying to move us to baton rouge to finish the semester or year, depending how long it takes to fix the building. I'm lucky I only lost some school time but others lost their life
